OK. Now I’m regretting that “Sister Ravitch” comment, though it should stand. One thing that I both admire and fear in these megachurches here in Florida is the community that they create. Many of these people–simple people–take good care of one another in times of need. And so I heartily endorse the use of these terms “Sister” and “Brother.” Unlike the current occupant of the Whiter House, some fundamentalists are decent people and abjure racism. I know. I live among them. It’s wrong to paint with too broad a brush. So, mea culpa.

Well this is pretty good Bob and Diane, but here is the real deal in Kentucky, in a facility that got tax beaks. https://arkencounter.com/blog/2019/05/16/2019-creation-college-expo-coming-to-ark-encounter/
And this push is in perfect alignment with with Trump’s move to cut federal funding for science advisors.

State legislators in Florida are busily creating new names for voucher programs–Family Empowerment Scholarships, Hope Scholarships, Tax Credit Scholarships, and so on. Legislatures do this–give them new names in their legislation–after citizens resoundingly vote down voucher referendums. It’s a typical Ed Deformer ploy to subvert democracy.

And to funnel money that might have gone to public schools into private school alternatives–often religious schools that make bigotry and brainwashing part of the curriculum. So much for separation of church and state.

Yup! DeSantis and Corcoran want to destroy the public schools.

I’m looking for the Donald Good Brains Best Words Bouncy House Asylum. It has an escape room. You don’t solve anything, you just declare, “I WIN!” and you get out, but actually you are still in. There’s a dementia simulator that involves a mallet and a Tunnel of Love that involves murderous dictators.

It includes a cleansing station where you can deploy bottles of sanitizer, purge departments by Tweet and blast through a megaphone that everyone should go back to their most proximal countries of origin based on actual proximity, genetic markers and suspicions of terrorist activity (via interactive matrix created by Stephen Miller).

The last station is an intersection with Miller’s House of Glass Splinters. On the Bouncy House Asylum side, the matrix includes economy and crime, but it isn’t really a matrix, just waffles with LEGO and Starburst on top.

On Friday of this last week, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a Montana case based on law derived from the failed Blaine Amendment. This case is about whether states can prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for religious schools. This is a big one.

LOL. Years ago, I was working on a grammar and composition text for high-school kids. There was an essay in it about DNA and how it works. My boss told me I had to cut it because DNA is associated in people’s minds with evolution, and this might cause us problems with adoption in Texas. That later became an official house policy, listed on the house style sheet. I’ve seen it on the house style sheets at other educational publishers as well.
