Susan Edelman reports in the New York Post that nine members of the NYC City Council complained that Chancellor Richard Carranza was hiring inexperienced cronies for top jobs.
One of his hires was a former Disney executive who will serve as “chief experience officer,” which is ironic since he apparently has no education experience. Maybe he will be there to make sure that students and teachers have good experiences, like the kind you get at Disney World.
Another will be paid $205,000 a year, although there are unanswered questions about his employment history. His title is: “senior executive director for continuous school improvement” with the Department of Education and a staff of 40.
“Senior Executive Director for Continuous School Improvement” is my favorite job title of all-time.
Better than “Chief Knowledge Officer” and “Chief Talent Officer” during Bloomberg regime?
Yes, I’d say this one’s marginally funnier than those, even.
Just a perq of the job, eh!
We also have the “Talent Office” in our management-obsessed district. Sounds like we work in a brothel.
yes, it says a lot about how those at the top think of those they move around like pawns in their chess game
Yeah, I grew very weary of watching this kind of nonsense when I worked in New York.

Go watch The Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman, https://gemnyc.org/2012/05/20/the-inconvenient-truth-behind-waiting-for-superman-now-online/
Witness the destruction by a long line of corrupt chancellors and their cronies in the legislature, who brought a great public education system down. I was a teacher there for 5 decades, and attended a great system myself, from 1945 until 1959 (when Bernie Sanders and I were classmates.)
The corruption in education is hidden behind the wall that theEDUCATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX puts up. https://greatschoolwars.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/eic-oct_11.pdf
The billionaires pay their backpacks full of cash to do their thing, and they decimated NYC, which is the largest school system of 15,880, in 50 states.

so sad!
The poster boy for what’s wrong with America- Trump’s nominee for Sec. of Defense was on the University of Washington Board of Regents from 2012 -2017 (his final year as Chair). In 2013, his son was admitted to the University of Washington after conviction in an incident that left his mother with a fractured skull and elbow. At the time of the incident Slate reports that the son disabled the landline so that neither the younger son nor his mother could dial for help. Slate reports that Patrick Shanahan wrote a letter on behalf of his son trying to get him out of jail time because he feared incarceration would cost the kid his opportunity to play baseball. And, Patrick is reported to have defended his son saying it was self defense, yet there was no mention that the mother threatened the son nor had a weapon. Patrick later recanted his defense.
The Board at the University of Washington has 6 men and 3 women (and a female student.) The good ole’ boys network.
University of Washington- student ratio- 53% female, 47% male.
