Bob Braun covered education and other topics for New Jersey’s leading newspaper, the Star-Ledger, for half a century. Today, as a blogger, he excoriates his former employer—and the New Jersey Legislature—for their efforts to keep PARCC testing alive.
The decision, he writes, will be made for political, not educational, reasons.
He begins:
“Today, the Legislature will sell out New Jersey’s children—and the state’s largest newspaper will be shaking its pom-poms to cheer it on.”

Its a great post.

Bob Braun gets it, he is a great defender of the REAL public schools, NOT charter schools or school vouchers. Also, I was just listening to Thom Hartmann and he deplored the privatization of our schools and all the bad decisions and failures of Betsy Devos.

We must NEVER forget what transpired earlier … potus after potus … to get to the place where DeVoodoo is Secretary of Education. We have we had a slew of “idiots and haters of public schools” in this position … and for far too long.
I am disgusted with those politicians who DISSED then USED public schools and public school teachers for their personal gains. I realize this is how DC works, but good grief … to use out public schools and our public school teachers to advance their warped agenda is disgusting.
I will never forget and neither should any of us. We need to keep them accountable for their dastardly deeds.
Btw, when presidents of universities come from the political or the business sector … BEWARE!

Like NY, MA, and CA, New Jersey had standards far superior to the CCSS. Because states were coerced into adopting these bogus and inferior “learning” standards via an unconstitutional law (NCLB), they should,on a strong legal standing, reject both the CCSS and PARCC and take Betsy and Arne to the Supreme Court. The Repubs should be more than happy to destroy one more remnant of the Obama legacy.
