Happy Thanksgiving!
Enjoy your day.
If you are not making dinner, go to a church or homeless shelter to volunteer to serve others. It will remind you of your blessings and good fortune. Former President Obama helped prepare food bags for those in need in Chicago (imagine Trump doing that, I can’t).
The spirit of giving is contagious.
When I think of those to whom I am thankful, I Think first of family and loved ones.
I think of you, who take time from your day to read what I write.
I think of the teachers in West Virginia, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Colorado, North Carolina, and Arizona who taught the nation a lesson.
I think of all those who work tirelessly for others to make our communities better places to live.
Despite our woes, we have much to be thankful for.
Diane
Grateful for hope that you, this blog, and those who contribute give to me and everyone fighting for an education system worthy of all kids in this country. Can’t express how much the words and messages here have enlightened and encouraged me. Thank you and Thanksgiving to all!
Getting ready to go into St. Louis to my old grade school to play our 47th annual “Grog Bowl” Over 30 vs Under 30 soccer game-oldest player is 64, youngest 10 ish. I can’t play anymore, the ortho doc would kill me but I hope to do the refereeing. We had our “Pre-Grog Bowl” Party last night, oh about 40 people and hoping for a good crowd (nice weather helps) of 75 or so folks today. I see some folks once a year-Thanksgiving so it’s nice to chat and catch up with them.
Hope all here have a great T-day and the rest of the holiday season!
Update: Wonderful weather sunny and 60 degrees. Around a 100 folks having a good time. Kids whooped up on the older farts 7-3.
I am with Ohio Algebra II Teacher. Grateful for this blog and contributors who keep me thinking, informed, and hopeful.
Happy Thanksgiving to Diane and all the commenters who frequent this invaluable blog. This blog helps to keep me sane in a time of idolized nuttiness.
Finding your blog, Diane, gave me my second wind after a long career in Boston’s public schools. I am so grateful for your inspiration to keep fighting for our schools and for the community of dedicated educators, parents, journalists, bloggers and allies your blog has brought together.
Enjoy the day with those you love!
My Thanksgiving wish for our community here and communities everywhere:
You couldn’t have said it better.
Thanks, Greg. Foster’s song is one of my favorites.
I am grateful that I have met you, and found this wonderful teacher’s room in cyberspace, where I have met so many wonderful educators, and where the story of what is happening is NOT lost, but front and center.
I am grateful for Diane and all of you. You have helped to keep me sane.
MAHALO and ALOHA to all.
Enjoy Hokule’a. She inspires with her message: Malama Honua , Take care of this island Earth.
Here is one of the links. You and your students will be inspired and learn a lot. This is cool stuff.

Thank you for ‘being the voice’ of Public Education – the backbone of Democracy… Since our ‘backbone’ is almost gone, our ‘Democracy’… is sliding toward Fascism. Please keep fighting (we know you will) – you, and your supporters may save us from Betsy DeVos and her ilk. (I am an 87-yr. old citizen and You are a Stalwart leader of Education Comes First) Enjoy your Thanksgiving … J. Ellingston (National Green Party)

I’ll keep fighting fascism. So will you.
Dearest Dr. Ravitch:
I am ever glad to be alive so far. Most of all, I am the happiest and luckiest immigrant who find you, your education blog, all of your veteran educators who contribute their teaching experiences, and all of your members in NPE organization.
I am thankful to pray God who will always bless you, your loved ones, all of your faithful supporters with health, happiness, strength, and success in achieving a WRAPPED AROUND AMERICAN PUBLIC EDUCATION for all students regardless of being homeless, autism, able body, disable or genius nature.
I always admire, respect, appreciate and love your relentlessly dedication for Public Education to America and to the world through your books to inspire global educators.
Respectfully yours,
May King, your secret admirer forever. XOXOXO
I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving day! I didn’t even turn my computer on all day long! (I’ve been wearing a lot of red in Phoenix, AZ!)
