  The Democrats have to drive their base to the polls. The fact that Sanders won big among independents who were allowed to vote in the Democratic primaries; may indicate that the Nation may be far more ready for progressive change than the corporate owned MSM would lead us to believe. This was posted from the WH. “The best is yet to come” on our ‘wonderful tax break for the middle class’. Is Rep. Buddy Carter actually loosing his marbles or is he just pretending to be an idiot.

What plans are in order for when the deficit reaches unbearable heights? Wages have been stagnant for years and if there was a slight increase it has been taken over by ever increasing expenses such as healthcare. What is the middle class getting?

    Now they are against free trade and love Russia.
    There were many Republicans who cared about the environment. Nixon created the EPA.

Reuters published an article (July 22) focused on 2015 meetings arranged by the Center for the National Interest, an organization that supports better relations between Russia and the U.S. The cited meetings had attendees, Maria Butina, Alexander Torshin, the Fed. Reserve V.P. and the Treasury Under Secretary for International Affairs. Elsewhere, it was reported that, in 2015, the Center for the National Interest received $390,000 from the Koch’s. In 2016, Foreign Policy.com reported that the Center for National Interest fired an employee who questioned the Center’s ties to Donald Trump.

Hence – the absolute value of public education. The need to promote the value of a sound solid education with them and how their Democrat choice will protect it. And, the need to give them a voice LOCALLY. Then they value democracy in action of which public education is the last bastion of democracy in action. When they have a voice, they don’t need some jerk screaming venom from the podium.

Independent voters are just regular folks who think about this stuff enough to declare independent – that means they care about ideas, not ideology.

They care about police, teachers, firefighters, clean water and air, good reasonable wages – and THEY CARE about people. Period. They care. APPEAL TO THAT.

Die hard GOPers would vote for Satan if they knew it got them a seat on the Supreme Court, deregulation, lower taxes, and anti-immigration. (Well,they did). Independents actually THINK.

Independent voters PAY ATTENTION. They see the effects of tax cuts on local schools, the effects of deregulation on air quality and their grandkids’ planet, and maybe helping out others. And, they are probably embarrassed about allies hating us, the baiting of enemies, and the outrageous spin on every issue.

They’re smart.

They are turned off by the “too” liberal issues, too. Dems need to recognize that.

  When the choice is almost always binary; what is an independent voter? The majority of Independents lean Democrat a smaller number lean Republican and probably vote that pattern time after time.
  
  I think of NY’s very closed primary system as too rigid. But I suspect there will be far fewer independent voters by the next Presidential Election cycle in NY. After tens of thousands of NY independents were locked out of voting for Bernie. Bernie being the typical independent aligned with the Democratic left for an entire career.

When we consider that the bottom 99 percent includes some people who make a huge amount of money — Sommeiller and Price find that a yearly salary of $700,000 in Connecticut puts you in the 99 percent, for example — a picture begins to emerge of a breakaway category of the super-elite, whose personal fortunes dwarf those of even average millionaires…

  Another EPI study pointed out the effect that income distribution has had on Social Security. Fifty to seventy-five percent of the shortfall would not exist if income distribution had matched 1983 levels and wages had kept up with productivity gains. Another way to put that is if workers had been paid for increased output. The wide discrepancy in that number is due to the fact those are complementary factors and had workers been paid for productivity than income inequality would not be as great.

    Each time a journalist refers to CAP as left, I attempt to contact the reporter and present the evidence that refutes the characterization. CAP uses “left” window dressing to hawk ideas from the right. One of CAP’s top managers recently wrote a book addressed to the next woman president- what hypocrisy- when CAP undermines the primary route women have used to reach financial independence- teaching. Gates gives $2 mil. to CAP and allegiance to the advancement of women, morphs into lofty talking points coupled with a stab in the back.

    CAP’s income inequality reports are window dressing. CAP makes recommendations, while simultaneously sidling up next to the agenda of their funders i.e. no taxes. Case in point- CAP proposed, in its March education paper, no replacement for funding cuts to education. The same report calls for teacher pay at $50,000 (starting) and free student lunches and breakfasts.
    Easy rhetoric, doomed to fail, given the political success of Gates and Waltons’ libertarian schemes, which CAP is well aware of. CAP tucked into its report that states should authorize charter schools.

The Observer reported (7-20-18) that in a recent 2-month period, the NYT and Washington Post quoted Republicans twice as much as Democrats. Republican views are screamed at the loudest levels (e.g. Alex Jones and Hannity) and, media sends the GOP views out to the public 200% more frequently.

…Because the program was created during the Depression, it does not rely on new congressional approval. It allows the CCC to borrow up to $30 billion from the Treasury Department to “stabilize, support, and protect farm income and prices.”

Still, some Republicans several months ago had warned against using the CCC as part of a trade-war related bailout, saying it could distort market forces and pay farmers for products they don’t produce.

Trump is trying to mollify a growing chorus of complaints from Republicans and business groups, who have complained that his trade approach is hurting broad swaths of the economy.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said Tuesday he has heard from a number of businesses in his state that the primary beneficiaries of Trump’s tariffs are overseas competitors that aren’t being hit with higher prices on their materials.

Speaking at the Heritage Foundation, Johnson said these trade disputes “could just totally run out of control” and likened them to “throwing a hand grenade of uncertainty” into the economy…

As the assembled students began the chant, which references Trump’s longstanding beef with political rival Hillary Clinton, Sessions can be seen laughing and weakly repeating “lock her up.” He didn’t hold back in his speech, either, attacking schools that created “safe spaces” for students after the presidential election. “Through ‘trigger warnings’ about ‘microaggressions,’ cry closets, ‘safe spaces,’ optional exams, therapy goats, and grade inflation,” he said, “actively preventing them from scrutinizing the validity of their beliefs. That is the exact opposite of what they are supposed to do.”

It’s not surprising that Pelosi wants Hakeem Jeffries to speak for the party. He can help pile up Democratic losses. What is surprising is how little influence Randi Weingartner has in the party after she took on the role of attack dog against a fellow union
because they supported Bernie.
Nurses, even without a version of CAP’s union busting vehicle, TFA, understood, what Michael Moore was telling Hillary’s campaign.

  In an opinion piece published on Wednesday by People’s Court Daily, Du Wanhua, deputy director of an advisory committee to the Supreme People’s Court, said that courts needed to be aware of the potential harm the tariff row could cause.
  
  “It’s hard to predict how this trade war will develop and to what extent,” he said. “But one thing is sure: if the US imposes tariffs on Chinese imports following an order of US$60 billion yuan, US$200 billion yuan, or even US$500 billion, many Chinese companies will go bankrupt.”
  
  As Chinese courts have yet to have any involvement in the trade dispute, the fact that the newspaper of the nation’s top court, ran an opinion piece – for a judiciary-only readership – suggests concerns might be rising in Beijing about the possible socioeconomic implications of the row…

This comes from the WH. [Check out the last line. “persecution of Sunni Muslims must end”. What happened to the Shiites?] Pompeo is saying we need to hear stories of people who have been “persecuted, tortured and falsely imprisoned” . He doesn’t need to look further than our private prisons and cages that are holding immigrant adults and children. People are being stripped of their human rights in this country.

Trump needs to take action at home to prevent these atrocities from happening again before he spends too much energy lecturing other countries. Our Orange Hypocrite is home grown.

Will the Evangelicals like Trump and Pence’s promotion of religions that send people to hell? [Not my belief but I am not a ‘Christian’ zealot.]

This is a good action in theory but not when Pence and Trump are in attendance.

Religious persecution in Iran and China must end

Around the world, religious minorities are persecuted and stripped of human rights, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wrote yesterday. “We need to hear the stories of those persecuted, tortured, falsely imprisoned, and killed for their faith. We can honor their sacrifices by preventing these atrocities from happening again,” he writes.

President Trump is taking action. This week, the State Department is bringing together religious leaders, survivors of persecution, and delegations from foreign governments for the first-ever Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom. Vice President Mike Pence and other senior Administration officials will be in attendance.

The goal is simple: to promote the God-given human right to believe what you choose.

The persecution of Christians, Jews, and Sunni Muslims must end.

Here is another great posting from the WH. Those who are poor will feel so much better if they get jobs. Most of the people on Medicaid, who are not disabled or young, are working. I’m tired of this ‘make the lazy, greedy poor work’ and they’ll feel so much better. How about having a minimum wage that allows these workers to survive without working 2 or more jobs? That topic is never approved. It is corporate greed that is destroying his country, not the ‘greedy poor’.

I normally don’t support vandalism but I’ll make and exception in this case. Trump should never have received a star in the first place. He was producer of the Miss Universe pageant so that he could gloat over their bodies and pick those he wanted to attack next.

Trump’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star Has Been Obliterated

…The vandal dropped the pickax at the scene, according to pictures taken by passersby. Soon afterward, the man surrendered to Los Angeles police. Details of the arrest weren’t immediately available.

Trump received the star in 2007, long before his presidency. He was the host of NBC’s “The Apprentice” at the time, but the Walk of Fame star honors his role as producer for his Miss Universe shows.

Trump’s star has been attacked before, but not quite so spectacularly. It was smashed by a man in 2016 shortly after the “Access Hollywood” recording of Trump bragging about sexual assault surfaced.

In that case, the vandal used a pickax and a sledgehammer. The attacker later pleaded no contest to one felony count of vandalism. The star was later restored…
