Our Poet, signing in as SomeDAM Poet writes:
“The shape of things to come”
The shape of things to come
Is everywhere we look
To Appalachia from
The streets of Stony Brook
The shape of things to come
Is poverty and want
It’s water full of scum
And lead in drinking font
The shape of things to come
Is bridges falling down
It’s children in the slum
And homeless all around
The shape of things to come
Is neighborhood that’s gated
It’s people under thumb
And spying unabated
The shape of things to come
Has stared us in the face
Though most of us are numb
And caught up in the race

Great, thanks.

“Rats in a maze” all fighting over scraps while the .01%er oligarchs “get fat” syndrome. What next? The Roman Colloseum where people die and those in the stands cheer?
I still ask: Where are those lost children who were separated from their families ala that Dump? Anyone as horrified as I am? Sickens me to the core.
The people of this country have been set up and we still are.

Evidently the children were taken from their parents with no plans to reunite them or even track them.
Imagine the arrogance of the Border Patrol and Trump administration taking the position that they can’t return children to “bad” parents. Even if a parent committed a crime, the child still belongs to him or her. What right do we have to steal babies?

Another home run by the resident poet, bravo!
Foreigners must be scratching their heads in disbelief. They must be thinking what possessed Americans to elect such a toxic buffoon, liar, manipulator, demagogue, con artist, morally bankrupt narcissist, etc. They should realize that most Americans did indeed vote for Hillary and that this idiotic Electoral College again burdened us with a lethal doofusberger. Trump reversed more than 70 environmental rules and still counting. A combination of rampant deregulating and cutting taxes will set us up for another financial meltdown. The GOP say just allow the financial sector, big pharma and the energy sector to self-regulate! That’s like saying we should allow a bunch of hyenas to self regulate as they rip a carcass to shreds.

Immigrant children housing is costing taxpayers about $1.5 million per day. What a horrendous waste. The hurt is incalculable.

Trump’s migrant fiasco diverts millions from health programs…Politico
The health department has quietly dipped into tens of millions of dollars to pay for the consequences of President Donald Trump’s border policy, angering advocates who want the money spent on medical research, rural health programs and other priorities.
The Department of Health and Human Services has burned through at least $40 million in the past two months for the care and reunification of migrant children separated from their families at the border — with housing costs recently estimated at about $1.5 million per day.
The ballooning costs have also prompted officials to prepare to shift more than $200 million from other HHSaccounts, even as the White House weighs a request for additional funding for the Department of Homeland Security — a politically explosive move almost certain to antagonize fiscal hawks in the run-up to the midterm elections.
“We have a public health emergency like Ebola, Zika, hurricanes — except this one is man-made,” said Emily Holubowich, executive director of the Coalition for Health Funding, who says HHS should request emergency funding too. “We should not be taking discretionary funding away from programs that need it.”…

Request for SDP: work on a verse with Sao Paola, which you describe accurately in your next to last verse. We don’t have to imagine it, it’s happened already. And having spent all day today driving around Detroit today (the neighborhood proper) on a project, perhaps this is future our American fascists dream about.

It would be a happy day if the press reporters would stand together and make Sanders answer questions and not dodge those she doesn’t have an answer to. Anyone like her twists so much I wonder why her spine isn’t out of wack.

Reporters, facing hostile White House, attempt solidarity to get answers
By MICHAEL M. GRYNBAUM
The New York Times
It was a subtle exchange, about 20 minutes into another clamorous White House media briefing, and a casual viewer of Wednesday’s proceedings would be forgiven for missing it.
But an unusual show of solidarity between rival journalists seemed to signal a new approach by the White House media corps toward an administration that regularly uses briefings to deride, and divide, the news media.
Hallie Jackson, a correspondent for NBC News, was grilling the press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, about President Donald Trump’s credibility, given his attempts at damage control after a Helsinki summit meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.
Sanders, eager to move on, invoked a tried-and-true spin-doctor tactic: Next question, please…
