I lost my job seven years ago now, but one positive that has come out of that forced retirement is the distance from the classroom that has allowed me to see I wasn’t wrong to feel education was heading down the wrong track in so many ways.

It’s election season, Diane. There’s 8 weeks every two years where ed reformers manage to locate public schools, during their re-election campaigns.
Then they go back to DC and enact policies that harm kids in Erie public schools.
If they stay in power this will eventually end, because there won’t be any public schools left for the adults to use as campaign venues.
What a waste of time for the students. Having to attend another mandatory “public schools suck!” lecture from DC ed reformers. Poor kids. I feel bad for them.

The DeVos visit may backfire on Rep. Kelly. She is the most disliked member of the Cabinet.
I wish she would campaign for Republican members of Congress in New York and California.
I wonder if she is violating the Hatch Act. When I worked for Pappa Bush, Cabinet members were forbidden from engaging in blatantly political activities like campaigning dining an election season with a candidate.

What is your source on this statement? Was there a scientific poll conducted? How many people in the USA, can name the current cabinet secretaries? Or even how many cabinet departments there are? (15).

What a shame that the general public has to pay for U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly’s re-election campaign. Not to mention the summer school students in Erie public schools, who are being cynically used as props to protect this guy’s seat.
Maybe DeVos and her huge and expensive entourage could tell the Erie students exactly what they have accomplished this year that benefits any public school student, anywhere. Specifically. A list.
What value do they add for any of those students? Ed reformers are very, very good at scolding public school students, teachers and families. Let’s hold them accountable for a change. They utterly dominate DC, to the exclusion of any dissenting voices of any kind. What have they accomplished for Erie public schools?
