   Giant charter and voucher backer gives tiny grant to public schools, therefore officially “bipartisan”:

   The Walton Family Foundation, a giant among the pro-charter education funders, recently announced its plans for $100 million in new grants. For readers familiar with this funder, the amount is likely far less surprising than the foundation’s announcement that it would make new room in its education giving to include traditional public schools.

   In a report released in conjunction with the grant announcement, Walton conceded that charter schools could not be the only way forward. “To achieve the growth and diversity of options we seek, we cannot view public charter schools as our only path to new school creation,” the report said. “The sizable challenge in urban schools can’t be met with any single approach. Every family should be able to access a school that best meets their children’s needs.”

   This is political, folks. It’s a political calculus based on an effort to pretend to be “agnostic” – a recognition that public schools have public support and ed reformers have to switch tactics if they want to remain in power.

   Hey, if this keeps up who know what may happen? Maybe a public school can one day aspire to be invited to appear before Congress! We can dream, right? I wonder if we’ll ever be good enough to deserve the attention and support of our elected officials?

   Facebook is partnering with Fox News under the leadership of noted anti-public school activist Campbell Brown.

   If we allow the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to peddle their ed tech in our schools are kids are going to be fed Fox News garbage daily and it will all be slanted against public schools.

   Thanks but no thanks, Marc. I’ll pass on the “gift”. Keep your money.

     the tech millionaire education ‘gifts’ are such transparent Trojan horses: take in the gift, pay heavily with ever more accessed student data, pre-scripted forced curricula, endless computer testing

The op Ed article is about the Cardinale ruling from Justice Desmond Greene in Staten Island. It applies to all NYC teachers. I think you would be very interested in publishing it on your blog.
