Same to you, Diane! Mother’s Day was started in Philadelphia in 1908 by Anna Jarvis, a womens’ rights supporter, that felt mothers deserved a day of celebration. It was adopted nationally in 1914.

I know of teachers who have been surrogates for absent mothers and fathers and life-long mentors to more than one student.
