Depending on what you read (and who cuts your paycheck), edtech is either a blessing or a snare.
I discuss edtech with Tim Slekar on his podcast “Busted Pencils.”

Educational Technology is a blessing if it puts more power in the hands and minds of teachers and students. When it puts all the power in the grubby hands and and bank accounts of corporations — well, it’s that other thing.

often pushing technology into schools can be best described not as an educational tool but simply as a money making endeavor

The part about the Utah teacher getting fired for showing kids postcards (already in the Library) of famous paintings with a little nudity would be unbelievable to anyone who has never actually lived in Utah.
But to someone like me who has lived there, it’s just to be expected.
I lived there over 20 years ago, but apparently, the enlightenment has still not reached the shores of the Great Salt Lake.

Exposing students to nudity in art is only one may longstanding problems in visual arts and museum education. In this case, getting fired for students’ inadvertent exposure to nudity on picture postcards is over an over the top action. It does not provide any educational benefit to the students, board members, or the community.
Utah has a small Museum of Fine Art. Judging from the website, the most provocative figurative art is in the “ethnographic collection.”
In 2011, Utah found enough support to establish a Museum of Modern Art. Explore the website and check the menu “Supporters.” This relatively new institution is not afraid to show provocative art. http://www.utahmoca.org/current/ I applaud that.
This is not the first case of severe repercussions for an art teacher who “exposed” students to nudity in art. Here is one bearing on a visit to a museum. https://www.aufamily.com/forums/topic/29658-education-follies-part-3422/
