As readers of this blog may recall, Missouri Governor Eric Greitens seized control of the state board of education by replacing five of its eight members with his choices. None has been confirmed by the State Senate, which leaves the state board without a quorum. How this unconfirmed board managed to fire the State Commissioner remains a mystery.
But Greitens is now in deep trouble because of news that a woman accused him of having an extramarital affair with her, tying her up, taking photos, and threatening to post the pictures on the Internet if she broke the story. Rather bizarre since exposure threatened Greitens more than his paramour.
Greitens has touted his role as a family man.
Missouri is a very conservative state. Republicans will have to decide what to do about the Governor.

“Rather bizarre since exposure threatened Greitens more than his paramour.”
Exactly what I was thinking. Glad she has come forward with the story.

The woman involved did not come forward, her ex-husband is the one who came forward with the recording of their conversation.

That’s even more odd. If I were that woman (not that I’d be in bed with Greitens), I’d be the first to come forward, the second he blackmailed me. Double dog dare him to post those pictures.

I am NOT surprised.

The affair part is politically meaningless for all practical purposes. What is politically significant is his having taken compromising photos of her and threatening to release them if she ever said anything about the affair, in other words he has allegedly blackmailed her.

And taken those photos without her consent.

When a politician claims to be highly moral, he is a hypocrite. When he claims he is against abortion, then pays for his mistress to get one, he has to go, as the Congress from Penn did. Hypocrisy stinks.

Teachers are often held to a moral position that affects their standing in a community. Unlike political leaders, who often play the morality card, teachers are held to a professional creed they accept when they take the job. A teacher can appear hypocritical in the eyes of a student quicker than anyone can imagine.
My grandmother taught math here in my county in the 1800s. She quit when she married my grandfather in 1901. Back then there was that ethical thing about married people not teaching. Men did not teach because it would not support a family. Women were forbidden to teach if married.
The question is, what ethical standard do we need for political leaders? I would settle for some common decency.

Common decency.
How Quaint.
And how awful that it should seem so.

Thoroughly agree with you, Diane, especially with high on their horse politicians like Greitens.

Yup. If a politician makes it a practice to denounce homosexuals, then gets caught in the men’s room with a wide stance, nudging the guy in the next stall, it matters. Hypocrite!

Eric Greitens, governor of Missouri, wants to be president. In fact, he’s already cornered the web domain name for his potential run, which now seems it will have to be put on hold for quite some time.
Greitens is refusing to set down, and the Republican attorney general says he has no authority to investigate the Greitens affair. Hmmm. The attorney general – who wants to be in the U.S. Senate – is, however, investigating the use of a testing app called Confide, that destroys text messages after they’ve been read, and those messages cannot be saved, forwarded, or printed, and the Confide app prevents screen shots from being taken too. The attorney general really didn’t want to investigate the Confide snafu either.
Greitens is a typical Republican. Big on talk — family values, transparency, etc. — but very short on action.
His time is coming.

The one thing you got to hand to Trump. He will not be out done by the Governor from a “S—-hole” State . His words not mine.
So breaking in the Wall Street Journal tonight is that an exotic dancer has received a settlement in case against the Trumpanzee and Chief. While he was married to Melania.
Now think for a second of the possibilities here!
Does he measure up?
Did he stiff her on an arranged payment?
Was she Russian ?
Was he a germaphobe as claimed ?
Will she be called in-front of Mueller and questioned about water sports?
Between vomits he does provide some moments of macabre humor.

Good news for us here in ILL-Annoy–our GOP Guv has now yanked his “clever” ads (saturating TV, radio & the net) w/ Grietens, Walker (WI) & Indiana Guv “thanking” our Dem House Speaker for creating jobs…in WI, IN & MO. Not bad enough we have to watch/hear our own candidiates & incumbents until elections–we had to look at MO, WI & IN, too.
Hoping you’ll get a more suitable Guv in MO. Keep up the pressure.
&–I believe that I’d read that Grietens used to be a Democrat? Let me know–I’m curious.
