News reports said that Trump reserves the hours until 11 am for watching cable news and tweeting. It is called “executive time.” Apparently he spends several hours daily watching TV, then golfs on weekends.
The fabulous and divine Bette Midler tweeted about this.

Wrong, Ms. Midler!
Trump may be lazy, but he has been plenty effective at screwing up this country and his plutocrat whisperers in the House are just as bad and enabling. Grassley, Hatch, Ryan, Mnuchin, Sessions, the list is very long . . . . .
OFF with ALL their heads!!!!!! To the guillotine!!!!!!!

The Federal Government, especially the Congress, is supposed to be a part-time job (maybe in session only 2 years out of every 4). This is why recess appointments were implemented but the Congress is in session too often to make recess appointments viable. The President was not supposed to have the power. The Congress was (and actually the States were.) What in the heck is the POTUS supposed to do. He signs or vetoes legislation and that would be at a minimum, with a part-time Congress and a very limited number of areas that they should be concerned with. The Founding Fathers knew that centralized power (the Federal Government) was ineffective and would tend to mess things up and they do.
Our Constitution is not being followed. I am not sure that it ever was.
I think that there are over 3 million Federal laws probably most of which are in areas the Federal Government should not be in, such as, education and as such, they are unconstitutional.
Trump says what he thinks and that is not what a politician does, so he gets criticized for it. Trump got elected, in part, because he was not your typical politician. It was hoped that he would drain the swamp. He has done some but not enough.
Politicians try to say nothing.
Clinton got votes from illegal aliens in California and elsewhere. Talk about arrogance. She thought that she was the anointed one, both in 2008 and in 2016.

Late to the party, but….
The fact that Congress is only in session half the time does not make it a part-time job. When they’re not in Washington in session, they’re supposed to be in their home districts listening to their constituents!

Speaking for myself, I’ll have much more confidence about our nation if/when I see machinists, nurses, teachers, home care health aides, mechanics, etc. being quoted, rather than smug, privileged celebrities.

Oh, I so agree,Michael. I would have liked to have someone at the Golden Globes denounce Amazon (instead of throwing lavish praise Jeff Bezo’s way–then the camera panned to him) for having so many workers relying on food stamps (I think I read 1,400 or 1,600–which may be considered a “drop in the bucket” given the total # of employees; yet, this isn’t about #s, it’s about PEOPLE. & for every one of those workers on food stamps, an entire family might be affected, so the #s of people escalate. Yet, w/a company as wealthy as Amazon {all tax break $$$$ going to the top; United & Southwest Airlines announced that their tax bonus $$$$ will add $1,000 to every employee’s paycheck, but hadn’t read/heard about any other companies doing that, & 1K might be considered a drop in the bucket anyway}). Running a company that makes BIG $$$$ (meaning the CEO & top execs) & allowing for jobs that forces people to go on food stamps is ABUSE.
& I am shedding tears for those involved in the remake of “All the Money in the World,” whereby some actors made $80 for the re-shoots (Michelle Williams, specifically), & Mark Wahlberg made a reported $1.2 million. Of course, this should not happen, but, oh, boo-hoo. A fitting tribute would be for Mark to donate all of that money to do some good. ($1.2 million divided by 1,600=$750-?)
Not much, but a start, & one good deed leads to another, as Mom (o.b.m.) always said.

BTW, read on a news feed (1/9/18, & not sure of which station, because it was a clip of a Trump speech on Seth Meyers’ show) that Jeff Bezos is now the world’s wealthiest man.
Also, Walmart has begun to close Sam’s Clubs (in the Chicago area)–63 stores, “affecting about 10,000 people.” (Chicago Sun-Times; Making Change at Walmart/UFCWIU).
“On Twitter, Sam’s Club responded to people’s queries by saying, “After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs & better align our locations w/our strategy.”‘
“Earlier in the day, Walmart had cited the sweeping Republican tax overhaul that will save it money in announcing the higher hourly wages, one time bonuses & expanded parental benefits that will affect more than a million hourly workers in the U.S.”
Right. In other words, the Waltons will be making the Big Bucks, throwing bones to their workers (“one time bonuses”–?!) & scraps & heaps of garbage upon their newly unemployed.
Isn’t trickle down economics a wonderful system?
