The Koch brothers and the DeVos family are trying to destroy public schools in Arizona.
Don’t let them!
Stand up for public schools!
Don’t let them privatize our schools or our public funds!

Do you have any definitive proof that The DeVos family (or anyone else) is out to destroy public education in Arizona? This is a serious charge.
School Choice/vouchers (in limited availability) have been available in Arizona for some time. The majority of the participants are doing so through ESAs.
Has this program led to the destruction of publicly-operated schools in Arizona so far?

DeVos has been out to destroy public education for 30 years. That is her life goal. Check out her organization, the American Federation for Children, which supports charters, vouchers, cybercharters, anything but public schools. She despises public schools.

@Charles, The Koch bros and their affiliates have poured the big bucks into “choice” campaigns in Arizona. Citizens are mad and hope to repeal the voucher law, having collected enough signatures to try to overturn it by ballot referendum. https://www.alternet.org/koch-latino-front-group-instructs-arizona-moms-about-school-choice

@kk: I concede that there is a great deal of money coming in from out of state, into Arizona, on both sides of the upcoming referendum.
One small nit-pick: The referendum is on whether to expand the current school choice (ESA) program in Arizona, not to repeal it entirely. see this article:

The referendum, known as Prop. 305 has been certified and approved to go on the ballot in Arizona. see

Charles,
We know that the referendum is about expanding the voucher program. This is not news.

See kk’s response:

Arizona does not have vouchers. Arizona has an ESA program for a small number of families. How can citizens be mad, and overturn a law that does not exist?
I would surmise, that some people in Arizona feel that the referendum will be about overturning the school choice program in its entirety.
As far as I know, no state has ever had an opportunity to expand an existing school-choice program by referendum. I predict that a great deal of money, will pour into the state, on both sides of the issue.

ESA is a form of voucher.

The state of Wisconsin is considering an expansion of ESAs with a particular focus on the needs of gifted/talented students. Dubbed “Choice 2.0”, this looks like an exciting proposal!
Our nation does not allocate adequate resources and efforts, to the unique needs of gifted/talented children. By giving parents ESAs, this will help assure that more resources are applied to our nation’s gifted/talented children.

(BTW- Only 2 cents out of every hundred dollars of federal K-12 educational spending is allocated to gifted/talented children. It is time to turn this around)
