This is a very informative article about Senator John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican (who used to be a Democrat), who brought down Trump’s three Worst Judicial nominees in the last week. If you haven’t seen the five-minute video of him questioning Matthew Spencer Petersen, please watch. You will be astonished that someone so ignorant of legal procedures was nominated for a lifetime federal judgeship.
You might also be interested to see the cozy relationships of other nominees as well as the abhorrent records of some who were confirmed. Are there no Republican lawyers who might be considered for this prestigious position who are not racists, homophobes, or ignorant of the law?
Packing the courts with ignorant judges may be Trump’s longest lasting legacy. He is choosing youngish white men who will be on the bench for many decades.

Trump is not making these selections. I do not know who is, but ignorance, ideology, loyalty to TrumP, and contempt for the legal system seem to be the qualifications for getting a life-time appointment as a judge. Bannon’s initial ambitions–deconstructing the administrative state–are being realized with a methodical teardown of every institution serving and protecting the public, aided by Republicans who support this process.

It’s not often that I can truthfully say that I would be a better candidate for a federal judgeship than an actual nominee is.
What’s astonishing is that it is not at all difficult to find a right-wing ideologue who is very highly qualified for a federal district judgeship. There are a ton of them out there. It’s almost as if they went out of their way to find this guy. In reality, it probably just shows that, with the exception of the most high profile nominations, the Trump team has no interest in collecting the views of anyone outside the administration’s inner circle, much less legal experts. A total bunker/bubble mentality. Scary, sad stuff.
