Why did Senator Bob Corker Change his vote?
Why would Republicans pass a tax bill that is wildly unpopular?
Who benefits?
Remember next November.

It sure looks that way! It’s shocking how open the Republicans are about taking money from the average American to enrich themselves.

“Cleaning the swamp.” Sure, . . right. Lawrence O’Donnell thought perhaps Corker’s motives were about ambition–he wants to be secretary of state. And Corker didn’t want to go on video because the so-called fake news people might do a side-by-side with his video statement from a couple months ago saying “not one penny” to increase the national debt. “Covering bases.”
We don’t have to wonder any more. They’ve obviously high-jacked the country with this bill.

A 1,000 page bill that they haven’t read but will be voting for it. They have to get something done or their campaign funding dries up.
Vote them out !

You have it nailed. 1000 pages that nobody has time or the desire to read much less debate. And these people are blaming Democrats for being the problem.

Remember when Republicans said that your tax return under their plan would fit on-a postcard?

1,000+ page bills that no one reads (besides the big money lobby groups who wrote them) is the norm on both sides of the aisle now.

Cheryl Most people, even Business people, would call that a sign of gross incompetence. I wonder if they even read their oath to the Constitution?

Such a strange dichotomy. Turn on the news and there’s a senator from Maryland talking about how wonderful this bill will be for working class people. The Obama era stagnant economy will take off. Etc.
Then you read or hear something later about how the working class and blue states will get stiffed and the economy under Obama was doing very well and continuing to improve.
Somebody’s lying, here.

Lobbying organizations find uses for people who have connections in government.

gitapik Just an aside: The elimination of the “individual mandate” in the Affordable Care Act will sink it apparently, because the rates for those who DO sign up will increase according to what’s NOT in the fund.

I does look that way….but it wouldn’t be much different if the Dems were in control. I can’t say that there are many honorable, trust worthy politicians. Most (both sides) are in it to enrich their own bank accounts and don’t even know what they are voting for. This is what happens when dark money and big business is allowed the head seat at the table. We no longer have a government “for the people”.

Facebook plugs Summit and Summit plugs Facebook- a mutually beneficial relationship. Not for students, but for Summit and Facebook
“Our hope is that technology can help with this scaling challenge. We’re seeing promising signs of early success, where our partnership with Summit Public Schools has helped encode their teaching philosophy in tools that will be used in more than 300 district, charter, and private schools this fall.
Building a philanthropy that can build technology is useful because a lot of our partners don’t have this capability. When we first started working with Summit, I remember asking their founder, Dianne Tavenner, if I could meet her engineering team. She said: “Sure, I’ll introduce you to him.” When I asked her why she only had one engineer on her team, she responded that, as a teacher, she was lucky to have even one engineer. ”
It’s hilarious. It’s the ed reform version of celebrity name-dropping and product placement in movies.
The public school “partners” of Facebook/Summit aren’t really partners in this relationship. Instead they’re lowest-level product testers.
Please don’t be snookered into this marketing campaign. One of the reasons we have elected school boards is so people like Marc Zuckerberg don’t run our schools. For God’s sake don’t hand it to him. Do your job as a public school board member. QUESTION this BS.

For anyone who thought that Bob Corker was a good guy for opposing Trump, let this Tennessean explain that some of us here have felt all along that he was, like many others, in it for himself.
The fight for Corker’s seat has already begun, with both Republican and Democratic candidates struggling to look so far to the right that they are over the horizon.

I tried to call Sen. Corker’s office today to ask him to still proceed with a “No Vote”. Interesting…his phone wasn’t accepting calls…
