PARCC (spell that backward) and the notSmarter imBAlanced Consortium are losing states rapidly, which was entirely predictable, but the punitive, pseudoscientific, curriculum-distorting, spirit-destroying numerology from other vendors like AIRy nothing continues unabated. The testing madness–which I refer to collectively as the Common Core Curriculum Commissariat Rank-ordering for All Assessment Program, or CCCCRAAP–is like one of those evil sorcerers from a West African folktale. It simply morphs, when attacked, into some other hideous form.

PARCC and NCLB/R2T//ESSA together well described: pseudoscience which has learned how to morph whenever attacked.

Love CCCCRAP, very funny indeed, but it’s really more like fascism than communism. It’s also PARCCay shmear, and it doesn’t taste at all like real butter. Hot AIR is equally fake, as far as science is concerned. And if we could just get Stupid Brainsick Affliction Corporation (SBAC) out of populous California, it would break the company’s bottom line and save our schools ©.

Not being bright enough to recognize that the problems lie in the conception rather than in the implementation (or being participants in one of the test-vendors’ many Revolving Door Plans for State Bureaucrats), state-level administrators, when the test they are currently using blows up in their faces, simply order a different one from another vendor, while assuring everyone that, this time, the test isn’t going to be punitive, pseudoscientific, curriculum-distorting, spirit-destroying numerology but, rather, a magical potion for education-cure-all.

I live in MD. The test blows up in their faces, but they just double down with the SAME test. No…they don’t want a different vendor, but they want different results on the same test. So then they start tweaking the already abysmal common chore curriculum to try and make the test scores rise. I’m done with public school. I’m tired of waiting for the revolution. It’s private boys school for my rising HSer next year.

sadly, the two jurisdictions in which I still hold active teaching certificates, DC and Maryland (and I am now teaching in the latter) still are committed to PARCC. It is one of the things totally distorting meaningful teaching
