State officials are threatening a takeover of “failing” public schools in Racine, Wisconsin, despite the fact that state takeovers have a track record of 0% success.
Local legislators are angling for a one-year delay in the falling of the ax on the community public schools.
Wisconsin officials are stuck in the outdated, obsolete test-and-punish ideology of No Child Left Behind and Race to the Top, both of which were massive failures.
Fresh thinking is needed, drawing on the wisdom and experience of educators, not on the bureaucrats at the state level.

No need to worry in Wisconsin. Our Department of Public Instruction leadership is sending its leaders to the Broad Academy. This is another “bold” move by democrats keeping things from “getting worse.”

Somewhere, somehow, someday the words Democrat and Broad need to dramatically, fully and loudly part ways.

The government in the state of Wisconsin seems to want to find fault with the public school system as well as to try to get their hands on what they call a failing management of the teacher’s retirement fund which ranks at the top of the nation in solvency.

When we say “0% success” as a track record, who got to define the success and how did it get defined?

NCLD & Race for the Top were in response to the exisitng “Wait to Fail” and the barely more than deminimus models that have existed in the public schools across this nation for multiple generations now….
