Kansas Governor Sam Brownback made a mess of Kansas with his application of big tax cuts and trickle-down economics. His strategy failed, and he needed an escape route.
Trump rescued him by making him an ambassador to no country in particular.
He will be in charge of International Religious Stuff.
He got out of town one step ahead of the posse.
You might say he is the worst governor in the nation, but then there is always Chris Christie, Rick Scott, Scott Walker, Rick Snyder. Lots of competition.
Brownback! Religion! I hear Christie will be in charge of nutrition, Scott will be liaison for compassion, Walker will work on strengthening unions, and Snyder will lead a new clean water initiative.
Criminy!
🙂 🙂
Diane, You should have included Martinez, aka NM Governor, on your list of worse Governors in the United States. She is following basically the same path as Brownback. New Mexico is listed as one of the worse states to live in because of poverty, running the highest unemployment rate in the US for several years, etc., etc., etc. All of which she, like Brownback, promised to fix. Nothing good has happened during Martinez’ administration — NOTHING!!!!!!!!
You forgot Andrew Cuomo.
He’ll undoubtedly feel slighted.
By the way.
For future posts.
It’s much easier to list the good governors than the bad ones — a much shorter list.
I’ve heard that Pence’s replacement in Indiana isn’t half bad, especially for being a Republican. But then, I suppose in comparison….
Utah’s governor, Gary Herbert, isn’t too bad, either. Of course, that’s in comparison to the state legislature…
Good one!
This just proves, once more, that postings for government jobs have no connection to ability or knowledge of the subject.
Will Sam Brownback now work to get rid of religion internationally? Does any country want him? If he has to leave the country it will mean a possible step up for Kansas.
Does he get paid for this?
More Public Tax Dollars now expended to pay the very large salary of yet another official who “hates government waste…”
Joseph Stiglitz sums it up nicely from his article Why Tax Cuts for the Rich Solve Nothing: “In a country with so many problems – especially inequality – tax cuts for rich corporations will not solve any of them. This is a lesson for all countries contemplating corporate tax breaks – even those without the misfortune of being led by a callow, craven plutocrat.”

What is going on in this country? As vile, despicable, reactionary and far right wing as these GOP politicians are, they keep getting reelected: Brownback – 2 terms, Christie – 2 terms, Scott Walker – 2 terms and he beat the recall, Rick Scott – 2 terms, etc., ad nauseam. In NJ, Christie was aided and abetted by too many top Democrats who openly endorsed him over the Democratic contender, Barbara Buono.
Doncha agree by now that the elections are fixed? I don’t know one person, not ONE, who voted for Christie, and yet, we got stuck with him. Are all of my friends and acquaintances liars, or are they just poor and have good taste? 🙂
You did not mention RI’s worst governor ever…Gina raimondo. a disgrace and an embarrassment for women with her many and continual screw-ups and cover-ups…Feds have fined her repeatedly and we still do not have a budget in place. She is a black eye to the state government…
Oh, yes, Brownback has some strong competitors for worst governor. As a NJ resident, I would agree that Chris Christie can give him a run for the title. Brownback’s new title is simply ridiculous. It sounds like a function from the Spanish Inquisition.
