A year or two after the horrific massacre of children, teachers, and the principal of the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, I began getting comments on the blog asserting that there was no massacre. I blocked those comments but I went to the link and watched the video that supposedly “proved” their claim. The video was disgusting. It purported to show fathers laughing until the TV cameras came on. It showed one of the children sitting on President Obama’s lap. Etc.
Why this elaborate effort to “prove” Sandy Hook was a hoax? President Obama, they said, wanted to manufacture this hoax to promote gun control.
This article in the Washington Post was written by a mother of a six-year-old who died at the school.
She is angry that Megan Kelly is interviewing the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who has spread the Sandy Hook hoax far and wide on his radio show. One of his most devoted listeners is Donald Trump.
Megyn Kelly is no fool. I hope she shows what a vicious, ignorant, vile man this Alex Jones is. How unthinkable to exploit the tragedies of the families of Newtown.

I believe Alex Jones “leaked” a tape of Megyn Kelly telling him that she is fascinated by him, and wanted to give him a chance to tell his side. She promised him she wouldn’t portray him as “some kind of boogeyman” and wanted to highlight his paternal side (in reference to his custody battle). I don’t think he should be given a second of anyone’s time. Only after backlash did she come out and give other excuses. I have little respect for her. I won’t be watching.

Without weighing in on the appropriateness of giving Jones a platform on NBC, my sense from reading the transcript is that Kelley was doing what all journalists do when trying to get a reluctant subject to speak, which is flatter them and appeal to their vanity.
Don’t you think she’d have done the exact same thing to mollify doubts if she was still appearing on Fox and had invited someone on the political Left to appear? What do you think she’d have said if she’d invited Berbie to appear on her Fox show, and he’d expressed justifiable skepticism about it?
Journalists placate, butter-up, flatter and lie to their sources and featured subjects all the time. It’s part of the job.

Megan Kelly has been actively promulgating conspiracy theories and hatred, such as towards blacks, on Fox News for many years. Her defense of women is the anomaly and most likely occurred just because she was the victim of harassment herself, so the chances of her changing her colors seem very slim.
One can only hope Kelly has since grown a heart and developed concern for other vulnerable groups as well, because the way grieving Sandy Hook families have been targeted by insensitive right-wingers who value guns more than innocent young children is truly despicable, but I wouldn’t want to bet any child’s life on that happening.

It is easy for me to think that the conspiracy theory nuts that report from the Alt-Right hate media machine and the millions who belong to the ocean of ignorance in the U.S. and who blindly follow them will make up the shock troops that will be the cause of a Balkanized civil war in the United States: the Alt-Right and its 30 or so million supporters led by the Kremlin’s Agent Orange vs everyone else that has been labeled as those “evil” liberals that want to take away a racist’s right to be a racist that’s free to terrorize or murder anyone they suspect is a minority or a liberal.
All we have to do is switch a label or two and we have Nazi Germany all over again with the same hate-filled slogans.

On the topic of the second Amendment, it is nice when your adult children can educate the old man. My son sent me this link on the origins of the second amendment . If you want to know the meaning of the rather short framework we call the constitution . Yo have to know what the founders were thinking when they wrote it.
This should come as a surprise to many second amendment advocates and possibly some social studies teachers.

I don’t know what’s worse: the fact that this maniac/con man is spouting these wild conspiracy theories on a daily basis or that there are hordes of true believers who swallow his arsenic laced Kool-aid. This man would love to see a civil war in which liberals/progressives would be lined up and mowed down by his “righteous” brigade of morons. The parents of the Sandy Hook massacre had to endure the worst horror ever and now this vicious nonsense from Jones and his ilk stirs up all that pain and anguish.

What is worse is that MSNBC would hire Van Sustern and then Kelly. Then allow Kelly to give Jones the platform. Think of the progressives they canned .If it was about ratting, Uygur was winning the time slot and could have gone up against O’Reilly.

It’s unbearable to think that after losing a child in such a horrific way, a parent would then have to defend the fact that her child is indeed dead. I wrote NBC to tell them how disgusted I was that Jones would be allowed a platform on network TV. I do not for one minute trust that Kelly would efficiently debunk any of the garbage spewing from his mouth. The only thing that has changed about Kelly is her network. Megyn Kelly doesn’t have the journalistic skills of Edward R. Murrow. Unlike Murrow’s brilliant discrediting of Senator McCarthy on his show, Kelly will miss opportunities to present a persuassive case against Alex Jones. His website Infowars is disgusting and his so-called reporters like Owen Shoyer troll and bate people at events in order to tape them for YouTube videos. Shoyer tried to troll Van Jones, but Jones was too classy and smart for him. In the end Shoyer gave up and told Jones he should come work at InfoWars where he didn’t have to be around brainwashed liberals. Not do these RWNJ websites make up stories, they are threatening the lives of all democratic voters. Recently, I checked out several of those websites. I couldn’t believe the level of hate and fear being generated against all minorities, Jews, Muslims, Catholics, progressives, and liberals. Right now Congress continues will be voting on a bill to allow silencers. With the strength of the gun lobbyists, it will probably pass.

The sad fact is that there are millions of ignorant, easy-to-fool clods like you, and the evidence of that is the Kremlin’s Agent Orange, that malignant narcissist, serial liar, women groper, wife cheater, con-man/fraud that only kept the wealth he inherited or was given from his father thanks to about $1 billion in corporate welfare, too many bankruptcies/court cases, collusion with Russian and American crime families, and he lives in the White House.
Donald Trump is not a great businessman or negotiator. He is a fraud, a P.T. Barnum and/or Benedict Arnold clone, the closest “thing” to an anti-Christ we’re probably ever going to see in our lifetime.
