Donyall Dickey was chosen as the sole candidate for the Portland Superintendency. He announced his resignation as Atlanta’s top academic official. A few days later, he withdrew his name from the Portland job.
Something in his background report caused the Portland board to change its decision. They aren’t releasing the report.
Why didn’t they do due diligence before embarrassing Dickey and themselves?

Maybe his education consulting business is seen as a conflict of interest? Maybe he’s a Broadie? There seems to be a lot of Supes moving around….they seem to only stay in a district 2-4 years?

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were returning to the process of really investigating the backgrounds of candidates being considered for such important jobs? Do we really think crony-type capitalism should control the public schools?

Off-topic- Related to Gates and Kim Smith’s Pahara Fellows. It’s blasphemy to hide the privatizers among those serving the common good. And, it’s a travesty to pay them with public money.
