Jonathan Pelto reports that Connecticut Governor Malloy will not run for a third term.
He has spent his time in office promoting the charter school agenda and undermining public schools, the teaching profession, and higher education, which are major drivers of Connecticut’s economy.
Connecticut teachers and parents: Get involved and find a candidate who supports public education. Get active or get overlooked.

Unlikely that a Democrat or Rebublican candidate will emerge that is against the reform movement. This is the problem. The narrative war being what it is (was), the reform/privatizing position is now a defacto position with nearly all politicians no matter the party.
So the question will become this: will someone as yet unheard of emerge for candidacy to the governorship in CT that is pro-public education and the philosophy behind it, full stop, and openly hostile to all reform agendas, ideas and policies as a matter of base belief? And then if one says yes to that, can/will they win?
Unlikely.
Chances are it will be someone “open to all ideas about education” (obviously meaning completely open to reform and privatizing.)
So yeah, hit the pavement and find someone. Don’t not engage. But lets be honest about this stuff. Losing the battles and maybe the whole war has consequences.
Especially after the last year politically, the only thing Im sure about anymore is that things can and often do get worse when a moment of real opportunity emerges. I’m no longer excited about crappy political leaders leaving…..a worse one is likely on deck. 15 years ago I was like “oh wow! Things can never get worse than this guy (Bush)!”
Well, you know…..
Sorry, a bummer….I know.

You should consider finding a Berniecrat at the Daily Kos. Keep running info on the data from CT. They’re doing it for every state. Kansas almost went blue because the GOP wasn’t watching, then the GOP poured in money, and the spread was down to 6 points, a 20 point gain for dems. Ossoff is favored to win GA and it looks like the GOP failed to undo the fervor of Berniecrats, only we won’t know for a week if that still holds true as the money is now pouring. The same in MT.
Mind you, the DNC and DCCC is taking a hit for not supporting the Berniecrats. Each office we take is beholding only to the people, not the party.
It doesn’t matter if you win. ONLY that you start getting the info to the voters. It’s a long game.
