Alexandra Petri writes a satirical column for the Washington Post. She explains the glories of Trump’s budget here:
The funniest thing about this article is that the White Gouse thought it praised Trumpcare and circulated it. Someone read it and realized it was a joke.
Here is a quote:
“This budget will make America a lean, mean fighting machine with bulging, rippling muscles and not an ounce of fat. America has been weak and soft for too long. BUT HOW WILL I SURVIVE ON THIS BUDGET? you may be wondering. I AM A HUMAN CHILD, NOT A COSTLY FIGHTER JET. You may not survive, but that is because you are SOFT and WEAK, something this budget is designed to eliminate.”
Here is another:
“Environmental Protection Agency: We absolutely do not need this. Clean rivers and breathable air are making us SOFT and letting the Chinese and the Russians get the jump on us. We must go back to the America that was great, when the air was full of coal and danger and the way you could tell if the air was breathable was by carrying a canary around with you at all times, perched on your leathery, coal-dust-covered finger. Furthermore, we will cut funding to Superfund cleanup in the EPA because the only thing manlier than clean water is DIRTY water.
“Agriculture Department: NO MORE OF THIS NAMBY-PAMBY “GATHERING” NONSENSE. We will be HUNTERS again. This is also why we are cutting the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children: Let them FIGHT for their meat or have NONE.”
And the White House thought this article supported their budget cuts!
With all the cuts to climate science and the perilous state of waterfront property, perhaps Mar-a-Lago will wash out to sea with Trump. I just hope the Secret Service can get out in time. http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2016/07/donald-trump-maralago-climate-change
Good article, but Trump doesn’t care because he plans to live forever and does not believe in science, least of all climate science that says his property in Florida is at risk.
Why am I reminded of the leader of North Korea believing a Mad Magazine spoof that called him sexy and handsome???? How scary that the powers that be are so self obsessed as to believe that and not intelligent enough to understand satire.
Funny in a really depressing way.
Some in the WH are tone deaf to the sarcasm because they are so far, far away from the many circumstances and needs that actually exist in peoples lives. It’s easy to imagine the healing power of an ethos whose core tenets are: survival of the fittest, pull yourself up by your own boot straps, and, the free market, based on gain and greed, will save the world, if you have no capacity to understand other peoples lives and situations.
A vision without heart.
I believe that to prove how tough they all are, those working in trump’s admin. should pay for their own insurance. No gov’t. programs for them. No salary, no insurance. They should all volunteer.
It’s really about: Make America GRATE!
While the Republicans keep proposing putting caps and limits on the government’s responsibility to people, how about putting a cap on how much taxpayer money is spent on security for Trump’s various residences? It’s obscene! http://kdvr.com/2017/02/17/between-new-york-and-florida-could-trump-security-cost-top-300-million-this-year/
The White House press office include Petri’s article in its daily release of articles friendly to the administration. They truly are idiots: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/white-house-1600-daily-parody-article-budget_us_58cc18efe4b0be71dcf480c1?uc5ypl2rm40bjra4i&
Someone in the White house must have thought it was a tweet, not an article. Hmm, who in the White House doesn’t have the attention span to read a full article?
Overheard in the WH press room, Spicer: “Who knew reading would be so difficult?”
“Trump declared that he would refuse his $400,000 yearly salary as president. (Upon learning that he was constitutionally required to accept the money, he amended his statement, saying via a spokeswoman that he would accept $1 and either give the rest back to the U.S. Treasury or donate it to charity.)
“Nor does it come as a surprise now, in the wake of Trump’s first pay cycle as president, that MSNBC reports there is no evidence that Trump has fulfilled his promise. With his second monthly check set to arrive any day, neither the White House, the Treasury Department, nor the Office of Personnel Management, were able to furnish any details or documentation as to where Trump’s first $33,333 monthly paycheck had gone, nor where his next paycheck would go. (On Monday afternoon, White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that the president would donate his salary at the end of the year “and he’s asked that you all determine where it goes.”)”

Trump promised to release his taxes and broke that promise.
Trump promised to provide health insurance for everyone and he broke that promise.
Trump never released his health records or had a physical that was made public.
This list is long.
Trump promises and then breaks his promises almost as much as he lies and I’ve read that he lies once every five minutes on average.
I wonder if he lies in his sleep?
MA has programs that work …. I am tired of always being accused of failing. These federal funding programs will stream money into your state and the program gets mediated through the bureaucracy of state and local schools. I am repeatedly saying that MA uses federal funds wisely for education. Politicians in Washington look across states and draw conclusions that everything fails. Example: Right to Read, Abt coms out with report that Rto Read FAILED… yet, I know specific places where superintendents and reading supervisors and teachers used the funds and got good things happening. SIG — they come out with a report everything “failed” but the MA report found that ONE practice in SIG did show results and that was “time on task” and extra learning time with subject support — extending the hours of a typical day.
Now trump cuts the Community Learning Centers because the program “fails”… yet we know that the CLCs do provide additional hours of subject support the one thing that SIG told us does work. This constant attack on education that says “nothing works” and the funds are curt off… This is a sign of a failed policy for R&D. The evaluation scheme should be asking it “fails or succeeds” in comparison to what ; or, it is “less effective than” spending the money on other priority but our evaluations are not set up to measure this so each political administration finds a watt o blast out “they failed” and institute a new ideology of their own. Tired of it.
my sarcasm continued: “feeding the children does not produce results” well then let’s un-feed them and go back to 18th century scurvy, pellagra, beri-beri- , blindness due to vitamin dficiciency, diphtheria due to weakened health condition etc….
From the same article: “All schoolchildren will be taught by an F-35 wearing a Make America Great Again hat. They will also have new school choice options including the choice not to afford any school at all, because at school you are taught things like grammar and pronouns and spelling and history, and these are all potentially inimical to the future we are trying to build.” As a future teacher, I wonder how we can make America great again with the current political climate. It seems like one of proposed solution to our education problem is to increase the amount of charter schools. Which I fear will create both an intellectual and economic divide amongst students, and ultimately result in unequal education. Therefore the idea of “choice schools” versus opting out completely is a very real and present issue. And due to the influx of standardization in the classroom, it is overtly apparent that anything deemed “non-essential” is being pushed out the curriculum. However, it does not shock me that Trump does not see the purpose, beauty, or reason in “grammar and pronouns and spelling and history”, his speeches and tweets and history are proof of that.
Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan was for the 2016 election. The same day he was sworn in and lied (again) while taking the oath of office, he launched his 2020 election with a new slogan: “Keep America Great”.
Trump has anointed America great for just electing him president. In the malignant narcissist’s thinking, America could never be great without him as president. Even if George Washington came back from the dead and was elected the 46th president of the United States, America could not be great without The Donald in the White House.
That is how this slimy human slug thinks.
