Reader David Phillips sent this translation of Alexander Dugin’s analysis of Trump’s election, in which he declared that the hegemony of modern liberalism was at last over. Dugin, as I noted in an earlier post, is considered “Putin’s Brain.”
Now, he says, Russia and America will “drain the swamp” together. Rid it of its corrupt elements.
“The Swamp” is to become the new name for the globalist sect, the open society adepts, LGBT maniacs, Soros’ army, the post-humanists, and so on. Draining the Swamp is not only categorically imperative for America. It is a global challenge for all of us. Today, every people is under the rule of its own Swamp. We, all together, should start the fight against the Russian Swamp, the French Swamp, the German Swamp, and so on. We need to purge our societies of the Swamp’s influence. Instead of fighting between ourselves, let us drain it together. Swamp-drainers of the whole world unite!… We need a Nuremberg Trial for Liberalism, the last totalitarian political ideology of Modernity. Let us close this page of history….
The USA is the Far West of the world. It is the space of Midnight. And there the final point of the Fall is reached. The moment at hand is one of a change of poles. The West turns into the East. Putin and Trump are in two opposite corners of the planet. In the 20th century, these two extremes were embodied by the most radical forms of Modernity – capitalism and communism. Two apocalyptical monsters – Leviathan and Behemoth. Now they have turned into two eschatological promises: Putin’s Greater Russia and America liberating itself under Trump. The 21st century has finally begun.
So all we need now is the Fire.
This is scary stuff. Lunatics of the world, unite. Your time has come.

It was reported this week that the wealth of just 6 men is equal to the combined wealth of half of the people on our planet. Despite propaganda to the contrary, rich people in power such as Trump have no intention of risking their own lot in life by becoming the friends of the working class. It’s very evident that the swamp which needs to be drained consists of wealthy oligarchs and the politicians who protect them, not the handful of liberals with power today who are advocating for the majority of us peons.

…..well there is that! Just in case anyone was still under the hypnosis of “the pendulum.” The current global right/nationalist movements, of which Trump is but the American version, seek to destroy the pendulum once it reaches its furthest point right.
This is a call to global fascism. It’s machinations have been underway for sometime, many in broad daylight. The American left, with the global left honestly, did nothing to stop it. Instead they bought in, ignored, or smiled the smile of one who believes that things like the pendulum, political stability, and even a center actually exist. Seeing our particular fight in education against privatizers as a microcosm of this broader story is easy to do.
We must redouble our understanding that the national right and left, like the political right and left are at bottom deeply opposed views of human nature, humanity, and civilization. We must understand that right wings fall once masses of people realize that their rights in total are compromised. We must speed up that understanding. We must further the understanding that the very idea of civil society is at question when right wing regimes take hold.
This can get ugly very very fast. If we allow it to seep in to our local, daily lives, we will be in this fight for a very long time. We have to resist an increase in the volume and militancy of the police. We have to resist, locally, calls for schools and teachers to not talk bluntly about “social justice” as it may be interpreted as “anti-Trump” in the community (yes, this was an issue in my district recently). We cannot allow this insane fascism to screw itself in to our cells. If we resist locally and do not allow these affronts to civil society to take hold locally, the rightist/fascist broader program is massively weakened.
And just so we are clear: does everyone finally see the danger and lack of utility in “centrist” or “center-left” or “third way” thinking? All that does is create calm seas for right wing, fascist accumulation of power.

Obviously they don’t . Please change that “center left “, to center right because that is where the DNC was and still is .
Not bad enough that they voted for Perez who supported the neo liberal agenda of Obama 100% . The DNC just lifted a ban on corporate pack money. Before the DNC is through empowering the right wing . We will see a constitutional convention that enshrines the right for a century.

They can’t turn back time. No matter how many desperate, stupid people there are, we won’t return to prior ages of political existence. Barring a near or total end of civilization scenario, the media, the truth, humanity cannot be put back into a box. Only in the hearts and minds of some of these troglodytes do the Dark Ages manifest once again. But damage can certainly be done, to the planet, to countless lives.

I am really offended by this post. I am not a Trump supporter but the Communistic part comes from the Liberal/Progressive side of politics. I do want the government out of my life as much as possible; I want to say what I see without being shamed for stating facts because it is politically incorrect. Liberal/Progressive aggression is why Trump won.
This is supposed to be a free society and I have watched my country become Big Brother; I spoke with a small business owner in Brooklyn, NY from Russia a couple of years ago—long before Trump was on the horizon—and he compared the Liberal/Progressive thought and speech police to the communist regimes he fled from in his home country. Republicans are hypocrites, too, but a Libertarian America? That sounds fantastic!

No apologies for speaking out against bigotry of any kind. If the quest for equality and dignity of all persons comes at the expense of the feelings of those who want to continue to say/do questionable things, so be it. We’re over it.

Yes, but it’s not just about bigotry. Libertarians want massive deregulation, which means rescinding the laws that protect us from predators who prefer profits over people, from labor laws, to environmental protections, to torte law, to predatory lending, to insider trading, etc.
I’ll take Liberal/Progessive thought and speech any day, which aim to protect the vulnerable and preserve the common good, over self-centered Libertarians who could not care less about anyone but themselves.

And the malignant narcissist in the White House doesn’t want to stifle the 1st Amendment when it comes to a free press? Of course, he wants to.
No one has been stifling the haters, the racists, the biased; the ignorant. Some have always protested their hate, their ignorance, their biases, their racism, but no one ever stopped them. Any attempts to stop them legally have been through legislation and the courts, and that is part of the legal process that the U.S. Constitution controls.
If liberal and/or progressive thinkers don’t like ignorant, racist, biased haters, they have a right to speak out and protest. That’s what the 1st Amendment allows them to do without fear of the government stopping them. That doesn’t mean the haters don’t try to shut them up. To this day, the Alt-Right has a long and bloody history of lynchings, bombing churches attended by minorities, etc.
Conservative news outlets that support the list in the previous sentence is about as long as the list of liberal news outlets.

I would add the RT (formerly Russia Today) TV Network to that list of conservative news outlets, since that’s Putin brainchild and they are decidedly pro-Russia. I recently saw their newscasters joke on air about the allegations of Russian involvement in the election of Trump and reports of their own bias, so no one should count on RT for unbiased investigative reporting of such matters.

While I’m not that worried at all about their doomsday take on things nor on the supposed inevitableness of “bad gubmint”, there are personal advantages to living “in the woods” no matter which (or what) state one is in. The peace and quiet, the wildlife, Ol Ma Nature in general can soothe one’s being. There is something to be said about being “close to the earth”.

While it is true that this seems to reflect a fascist vision of a new western world, it is also a myopic understanding of the institutions that make society pluralistic and people in it truly free. If we push against the things we do not like with methods outside these institutions, we will fail as have so many before us. Consider some of the history that brought us here.
It was the idealistic Robespierre who advocated a complete end to capital punishment just months before he casually accepted the reign of terror. The civil war that went along saw many thousands die in an awful attempt to impose freedom from the ancient regime. Soon there was Napoleon. More war. More death.
The idealism of Kerensky was quickly pushed aside by the Bolsheviks. Soon Stalin was causing the death of millions with his policies and his secret police.
Support at the ballot box for the NAZI party followed fear of Stalinism stirred up by fascists who saw themselves as an alternative to a feared radical left.
There is real justification of fear of a radical left or right. We happen to live in a world where the right is closer to us. A centrist politician of a period forty years ago looks solidly on the left today to the person who has not experienced this transition.
I seek to represent the thought that we cannot maintain the center without a dedication to its institutions. If we try to resist the ideas of one side or the other with methods other than the ballot box and the town meeting of the press, we will go down a road to our own civil war. It will not be civil.

My Rrpublican congressman refuses to hold a town meeting in person. He does it by telephone, so he can control who speaks.

So we resort to the town meeting of the press, for now free, and to your wonderful blog, where people speak civilly in complete sentences. And we can march and create civil disobedience to call attention to our beliefs if we can get time between trips to the daughter’s swim lessons.

At CPAC Steve Bannon confirmed that he wants the same thing that Alexander Dugin and Putin want, to replace our free market economy in a unipolar world dominated by the United States with economic nationalist in a multipolar world. One where Putin gets to rule the Eurasian continent and Trump gets to dominates the American continent.

There is no “free market economy” to be replaced. Never has been and never will there be a free market as it is an economics description of human interaction and not an entity in and of itself.
When I “flew to the ‘free market’” on google earth it took me to 13, 33 14.99 North and 29 29 42.44 West. Pretty hard to drive there.

Shouldn’t our intelligence agency be all over this?

The U.S. intelligence agencies might be all over this. Just because the media isn’t reporting anything doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
Intelligence agencies are very secretive and always have been. They aren’t known for NOTrevealing what they are up to until they are ready to pounce and even then, they keep most of what they are doing sealed and marked confidential and secret.
The CIA has black ops groups made up of former special forces troops. How do we know that some deep black ops team isn’t planning to take out Rasputin-Goebbels and the Malignant Narcissist in the White House.
For instance, all it would take is someone to use spray with some nerve agent in it that kills instantly. I’ve read that the CIA can seal the skin of an agent’s hand and then rub a nerve agent on the hand that will paralyze all the muscles in the victim once that hand touches any bare skin on the target. Second or minutes later, death occurs.
The death certificate would list the cause of death as cardiac arrest since the heart is a muscle and it would stop beating.
