A federal appeals court ruled unanimously to block Trump’s immigration ban, upholding the decision of the federal judge who blocked the ban a few days ago.
If the decision is appealed by the Justice Department, it is unlikely to prevail. At present, the court is divided, 4-4, liberal-conservative. And there is a good chance that the US Supreme Court would rule unanimously against a ban so clearly based on religion. The justices know the Constitution.
The American system of government is based on separation of powers and checks and balances to prevent authoritarian rule. Our democracy scored a victory today.

WASHINGTON — California Sen. Kamala Harris will introduce her first bill in the Senate on Thursday to guarantee legal counsel for refugees and other travelers blocked at U.S. ports of entry, a bill intended to address the chaos that engulfed people trying to enter the country in the face of President Trump’s travel ban.
Trump’s Jan. 27 executive order banned U.S. entry for 90 days for anyone from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen. It also placed a 120-day ban on all U.S. admission of refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution in their home countries and indefinitely suspended admission of refugees from Syria.
Several courts have blocked it and the order is currently under review by a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Any ruling is expected to be appealed to the Supreme Court.
Harris, a Democrat elected in November after serving as the state’s attorney general, quickly took a high-profile stand against the ban. She joined a protest at the White House on the Sunday after it took effect, as thousands of protesters converged on San Francisco International Airport and other major ports of entry in opposition to the ban.
She also sent a letter that Sunday to Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly demanding that border officials carry out court orders that blocked the ban, after hearing from attorneys in California and other states that legal permanent residents and travelers holding valid visas were still being denied entry into the country or were being delayed. The administration later clarified that the ban did not apply to permanent legal residents or U.S. passport holders.

Everyone needs to read this blog. I tuned in NPR on the way home and got the tail end of the report on this and understood it to say the court had upheld Trump’s ban. My wife was devastated. Then I saw your blog post and discovered I was wrong. When I told her she burst into tears of happiness. She’s going to have a nice Valentine’s because I really owe her for those 30 minutes of agony.

You know what? For the first time in 31 years in this country, I actually start believing good stuff like this can happen.
Perhaps the judges reread the Constitution with fresh eyes, and realize, it says, people with strong religious convictions cannot separate church and state, so all Trump cabinet members get fired without pension, and their wealth gets distributed among those who do work for a living .

Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 states: Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.
Stay will not last long, it is the law.
Our intelligence agencies have indicated the inability to vet these individuals as the governments within the identified countries are unstable, they have not process by which to provide information on the people and therefore cannot make good judgements due to lack of information. The idea that no refugee has has caused any act of terror in the united states is false. it is the governments primary responsibility to protect and defend this country.

because he was following the intelligence communities recommendation and OBAMA’s lead on this as these were the countries identified in a previous bill because the countries have unstable governments…they do not have databases and systems in place that provide information on their people which are some of the primary tools that refugee vetting personal use in their analysis. Saudi Arabia is not an unstable government but if you remember we weren’t at war with them and if we had vetted people back then Saudi would have provided info about these individidual’s travel history, etc as we learned this after the fact because we were ignoring things. As far as Iraq, well they do not have stability and we did allow refugees in to this country and the were caught in the process of a terrorist plan and we were luck to get them before it happened.

The only plot that happened in Bowling Green Kentucky came directly out of the offices of the FBI . This was a sting operation that entrapped two victims . Now it is highly likely that they harbored ill feelings to the United States but harboring ill feelings and taking action are two different things. One was approached by an FBI informant ,he later enlisted the second, the informant and the FBI then gave them the ability,know how and financing to put together arms shipments to Iraqi insurgents . The plotters packaged the arms into containers that then got shipped to an FBI warehouse .

This is the most unstable administration of my lifetime. Most victims of violence in the United States die at the hands of Americans. The United States bears a large portion of the responsibility for the power vacuum created by the Iraq War fiasco that was filled by ISIS. The stereotyping of adherents of a particular faith as “terrorists” is reminiscent of the Nazi propaganda stereotyping Jews as non-Aryans that culminated in the Holocaust. Never said they were forced to do anything but like the FBI office in NY which refused to get into most of the NYPD terrorism cases .This was laughable.
Chances are these two clowns could not figure their way out of a paper bag. Yes they did harbor ill will to the USA . But they probably did not have any of the resources to act on them financially or mentally . Nor was their ever any mention of them wanting to personally put skin in the game and partake in attack inside this nation.
The difference between Kentucky and NY . These were not US citizens so the FBI took it more seriously.
People of Bowling Green can go to sleep now. People in NY have long ago stopped being fooled by Republicans pulling out the terrorism card.
