I agreed yesterday to be Organizer for my local community of a chapter of the RESIST movement which has rapidly gone nationwide. These young techies figured out a brilliant way to organize through “meetup” groups and yesterday sent out thousands of notices to towns all over the country. Within minutes of announcing, I had 24 local sign ups and we are starting to plan with our first meeting this Wed.
Only hiccup was that two Tea Party members who ID as “Christian Patriots” joined (as I assume infiltrators) so this will be challenging. But I am greatly encouraged to see resistance leadership among these very sharp and motivated young activists who are in NYC. They are really on the ball and are maintaining am email dialogue with me and I assume, all other community organizers.
We here are starting with two events, a meeting on Sat in downtown LA on Immigration. As you know, California is now a ‘sanctuary state’ according to our Guv, and our Mayor, and the LA Times.
The other event will be addressing protecting Planned Parenthood. Hope some others join yet one more activist group. Push back.

From my years of studying and reading history (Yes, I wanted to be a social studies teacher before I became a special education teacher), dictators not only destroy democratic institutions, but those institutions give dictators the power to destroy all who are in opposition. We must all answer him back loud and strong. The media must get the backbone to call a lie a lie and not in nice terms. Trump is a bully who hopes that a gutter mentality will put us all in fear. Not me. When I write on social media, I describe him in the harshest terms possible mostly without resorting to profanity although I will admit I did sin in that area several times. I have sent him letters through whitehouse.gov over a dozen times. Not an answer, even a canned one. If he wants a street fight using rhetorically knives, we must give him a street fight. If he tries to throw a rock at us, we will catapult a bounder. I never, in 62 years, felt this way about a politician, but I am angry because I do not want this democracy to be destroyed.

Mostly, I deeply believe and support Dr. Ravitch’s idea and suggestion. Hopefully, all veteran educators and all retirees in all fields will strongly unite in ONE FORCE and will do as per Dr. Ravitch’s suggestion – in 2 years, voters will wipe out all CORRUPTED senators and members of Congress of both major parties – through #resist and through #gofundme from NPE campaign.
