   Betsy’s job is to destroy. That’s it. In fact, that’s what Trump/GOP is setting out to do, destroy everything that’s good in the U.S.

   I was terrified when I heard Trump was considering Rhee for the position. Betsy DeVos is the best least qualified candidate out there. She will be completely ineffective. That will be good. I’m tired of Washington D.C. effectively destroying public education. I look forward to watching her flail.

   The least qualified president chooses least qualified cabinet members pretty much across the board. It’s said that he doesn’t like having anyone around him who is smarter than he is. A high bar, but he seems to have managed it in many cases.

     I thank you for answering how and why we had a president who chose a basketball player who was never in a classroom to be the education pied piper who shot gunned common core down our throats!

       No comparison between Trump’s cabinet picks and Obama’s. You may disagree with Duncan or think he should have had a different background, but he was a smart guy with a lot of experience and an interest in doing what he believed was best for kids.

       Can’t say the same about the Trump picks, who seems driven by ideology on every front.

       John, I would say there is a comparison. Both cabinets will serve the rich and powerful, not us.

       Obama’s cabinet was terrible. Trump’s will be more severely and transparently terrible.

   Yes, DeVos is the least qualified candidate for US Secretary of Education and there is talk of hiring Hanna Skandera, current NM Secretary of Education, as one of DeVos Deputies. Skandera is just as unqualified for any position in the Department of Education as DeVos is so look out. The unqualified leading the unqualified. It is clear where this story will end.

   Shall we all tweet our legislators after calling or emailing them with our constituent credentials and twitter hands. We can ask “Are you voting against Betsy Devos’s appointment as Secy of Ed. for the sake of public education?” or Zephyer Teachout’s question.

     Harlan,

     Bill Evers of Hoover would be way superior to Billionaire Betsy.

     Bill is a libertarian and a vocal opponent of Comon Core.

     He was Assistant Secretary of Education in the W administration. Also a local school
     Board member.
