There were reports of a billboard in Mumbai showing Trump in his usual gold-encrusted lifestyle, looming over a scene of desperate poverty in Mumbai, India. The billboard said, “There is only one way to live. The Trump way.” Snopes said it was fake news. But it was not fake news and Snipes changed its designation to TRUE.
I guess Trump will be our chief diplomat addressing issues of poverty around the world.
So I guess Mr. Trump shouldn’t be investing in Mumbai? It’s a real shame how many people he’s putting to work through his investments.
Ye gods, defensive much? How do you react when you see real criticism of the Orange Sh*tgibbon, instead of this mild comment on his tone-deafness?
Gibbons, while lacking keyboarding skills, are decrying your usage of their fine lineage in describing THETrumpster.
(although I may have to start using that one!!)
As of January 20-21, Trump will not be a private citizen. He will be a public employee. He should not be using the presidency for self-enrichment. If his primary interest is personal financial gain, he should resign.
Has nothing to do with investing in Mumbai. That billboard represents the U.S. now in a profound and official way, and look at that message in its full context, its recipients too. Business fail, diplomacy fail, humanity fail.
Though, ethically speaking, he should have already divested or removed himself in some way, but that’s another issue. The more major thing for me is his grotesque insanity.
I guess this sort of thing is “a thing” in India. A terrific book a few years by New Yorker writer Katherine Boo was “Beyond the Beautiful Forevers” and the title referred to a billboard looming over a shanty-town:

A truly necessary read for all of us complaining about low wages and high prices.
Reminiscent of the iconic 1937 photo “Breadline” of a billboard by Margaret Bourke-White.
