Sarah Palin published an opinion piece blasting the Trump-Pence deal with Carrier as “crony capitalism.”
She wrote:
“When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent,” Palin wrote in a ‘Young Conservatives’ op-ed. “Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.”
Wonder if she will get that cabinet post?

So Sarah Palin went from a full frontal endorsement of Donald Trump to blasting him for corny, er, crony capitalism?
Mind-boggling inconsistency?
😳
Say it isn’t so!

I’m kind of wondering if she was told, or otherwise found out, that she wasn’t getting any kind of role in the Trump administration.
I’m also wondering if she actually wrote this herself………..

Zorba: Don’t know, but I’m glad Palin wrote it. She always has claimed to be a rogue. But the backfire is this: Why would Trump et al care if nothing anyone says is true? There’s a huge knot in Trump’s shorts; and it’s made of shxxxty lies.

Catherine, it still boggles my mind that it was Sarah Palin that said this, and yes, give her due props for this.
I’m sure that many of the people who were huge fans of Palin in 2008, who went to her rallies and cheered, became Trump supporters.
This has to be giving them at least a certain amount of cognitive dissonance.
And that’s a good thing. 😉

Zorba: Hay–the issue of truth/falsity has come to the fore here, at least for now. And what she says is TRUE. I NEVER liked her-still don’t. But what she says in that paragraph, by my understanding of what is going on lately, is REEKS of HIGH TRUTH–and I love it.

Isn’t it a hoot when Palin is the sane one?

It find it scary. But for the first time I admire what she said and I agree with her.

Yes, makes me want to re-think Sarah Palin.
She is being far more honest than most of the fawning Republicans like Romney.
I happen to disagree with much of her philosophy here, but she is honest about it.

If nutty Sarah Palin is sane compared to Trump, the U.S. is wading into a Trumpian cesspit of a swamp. While he drains the DC swamp of its currency brackish water, he’ll be pouring in water from the other side that’s filled with corporate sludge, pollutants of all types, and malarial mosquitoes that will be much worse than the old swamp water.
Before Trump is done, most of the country will be praying for a return of the old DC swamp.

Bernie made a similar comment with different reasoning. He said Trump’s deal sets a bad precedent that will encourage companies to threaten to leave in order to extract sweetheart deals. He also said the issue is better addressed through a policy rather than an individual response. Trump’s intervention was a publicity “white knight” moment for the basket of deplorables. It is a distraction so he and his team can get back to monetizing everything public and hacking up the social safety nets.

And another Carrier plant in Indiana that employs 700 is still moving to Mexico.

You have to give it to Palin–regardless of her motivations, she is reminding her readers how far they have drifted from true conservatism. “Remember?” “Remember?” Twice in one paragraph.
My hat is off to her for that. The only people such believing “Trumsters,” will listen to, that is, those who hate the press or anyone outside of their orgiastic echo chamber, at this point, is an insider. And Palin is an insider–at least until the Bully Powers find a way to discredit her. In Putin’s world, . . . .

I would compare this to a hyena complaining about the eating habits and table manners of a vulture. In the end, both Trump and Palin believe that corporations should be allowed to rape the public without any restraints or restrictions. How dare there be regulations, just let the free market and competition sort things out.

For sure, the day after the Palin OpEd ran, Trump forgot it, and he’ll have to be reminded or he’ll never remember. When Palin walks into the Oval Office, if his secretary doesn’t remind him who she is, Trump will ask, “Who are you, and what are you doing here?”

No wonder Trump didn’t want to release his detailed medical history or the country would have discovered he has short-term memory loss. It’s called amnestic syndrome.

I read a piece before the election from two of his previous lawyers who said they never had a meeting with Trump alone because he never remembered what they talked about in detail the next time they met. The lawyers always came in pairs, recorded the meeting and/or took notes that they could use to remind Trump of what had been said in the previous meeting.
What a convenient mental challenge. Trump literally can’t remember when he’s a racist, lying asshole.

Thank you Lloyd, for that last paragraph.

I thought that was the type of deal the WTO just ruled against WA state and Boeing, tax breaks specific to one business and not available across the board.

This “deal” also points out another problem that must be addressed: TRUMPS CONFLICTS OF INTEREST! Trump owns stock in the company that owns Carrier.
Pence was able to do most of the bribing at the state level where he is govenour, avoiding legal problems at the Fed level…
