David Sirota in a different column reported that Tony James, CEO of Blackstone Group will be Clinton’s choice for Treasury Secretary:

I just read that article. Please cite where it says that he will be Clinton’s choice for Treasury Secretary. Or even that she plans to enact this idea?
If you can’t, then I have to say I am very suspicious of you. Are you a Russian troll?
In this blog, even the people who disagree don’t blatantly lie about the facts. If you can’t cite where this article says that Tony James is Clinton’s choice, then you should not be here. You are a troll.

Cite this, please. Why would you lie?

Have to agree with NYC parent on this one. RaiseTheBar certainly misread, or thinks it is humor, with this comment on Hillary choosing James for a Cabinet post. Sirota is an accurate reporter, and although his article reflects Blackstone trying to suck in Podesta and Hillary to influence them after he bundled $100 K for her campaign, there is NO indication that she or any of her people got involved in this scheme.
Some time back, Diane posted on “close reading”…suggest commenters here adhere to far more careful reading and reporting.

This is a lie. Sirota’s article doesn’t say anything like that.

I suspect RaiseTheBarHigher was a troll and this pretty much nails it. He’s quite good at playing the disillusioned Bernie voter though, isn’t he? Good at convincing undecideds how evil Hillary is.

What? None of the Clintonite fear mongers here have noted that the Trumpster would also like to have Ms. Quitter, Sara Palin in his cabinet. Come on you all are getting slow. Must be election fear mongering weariness, eh!!

If the idea of a Trump presidency isn’t frightening, you must have nerves of steel or you just don’t care.

I’ll go with the nerves of steel. If I didn’t care I wouldn’t even vote. As I’ve said many times before: this country has weathered Unca Ronnie and Georgie the Least, it’ll weather either Clinton or Trump.

In Communist countries,
1) First thing is that government take away money by reducing the current value with much less value-less new currency like old 1000.00 dollar = new 1.00 dollar
2) All necessary medicines and all dry and tin foods are taken off from market into government warehouse.
3) All movements in any types of transportation from one region to other region, people need to apply for approval.
4) All people who live in countryside WILL be forbidden to move into any big cities.
5) Higher education is privilege and is for government officials’ children so that they will hold into power for life.
6) All media outlets are completely under control – other ideas are shut down – entertainment like music, play will ONLY express GOOD THINGS about communist leaders.
7) Children will spy on parents. Spouse can fabricate a story to harm other spouse without the need of divorce.
In short, if you want to live, you must be in a position of one in three options as below:
1) Pretend to be deaf, dumb, mute and blind to work in mud without enough food to live.
2) Must be savage to defend your survival.
3) Must be the beast to live comfortably at the expense of others.
In FASCISM, people are at the mercy of SLIMY THUGS. Back2basic

No. 1 is tinfoil hat territory. When inflation means that it takes a million dracmas (or whatever the currency) to buy a loaf of bread, common sense dictates that you rework your currency such that 1,000,000 old dracmas = 1 new dracma. Ghana did it about ten years ago. Armageddon did not ensue.
No. 2 is also tinfoil hat territory. Medicines might cost a thousand dollars a pop, but the government is most certainly not going to interfere with Big Pharma by nationalizing their product. Please.
I can’t even address Nos. 3 and 4 with a straight face. No. 5 has mostly been the case for about a decade or more now and it’s getting worse all the time. But not just the big, bad gubmint officials, but the wealthy elite in general.
No. 6 has likewise been the case since 95% of media outlets have been owned by the same six corporations (allowed by deregulation during the Clinton I administration).
No. 7 – again, somewhere between tinfoil hat territory and already the case. My best friend got hauled in for the third degree because his ex set their kid up to accuse him of sexual abuse – how could he prove he was innocent? Bitter exes have always used the kids against each other. But I don’t see us at 1984 levels where kids are reporting their parents to the government either.

Yes, I am lucky enough to stay away Communist country while I am still young enough to learn English to graduate from both College and University in Canada.
You can manifest the degree of control of the population with the help of technology in internet.
All of my experiences were in the first 5 years with communist 1975-1979. By 1980, I was in the refugee camp, then to Canada.
Communist skillful level has advanced to level of fascist level through the era of information.
Please remember that the majority of the mind in people, who were born and have grown up under communism, fascism, and terrorism, cannot be trusted.
In short, sympathy is different from empathy and theoretical knowledge is far different from practical knowledge or hand on experience.
What we understand and know the fact is much different from live in it. The fear to see the cruelty that imposes on others is completely different to the fear in which we must face to it.
It is easy to say and to do whatever when we are healthy, full of foods, drink and heat to be in comfort.
it is painful to have a clear mindset in a weak body due to lack of protection = educator is powerless to corrupted administration that is completely controlled by idiotic corporate.
Respectfully yours,

M4potw,
The China of Mao is not the China of today. After Mao died, Deng Xiaoping, with support from the PLA, ended the Cultural Revolution and opened China to the world creating a capitalist private sector. The CCP revised the Chinese Constitution to limit how long anyone could hold a position of political power to two 5 year terms and retirement is mandatory at about 65.
China joined the WTO in December 2001. To gain admission China went through a lengthy process of negotiations that required significant changes to the Chinese economy and legal system.
Today there are more affluent middle class people than the entire population of the United States and the CCP has a goal to double that number in the next decade or so.
Chinese students are flowing into the United States to go to college, the largest block of foreign students.
In fact, many of China’s national leaders send their children to go to college in the U.S. Even China’s current president’s daughter graduated from Harvard.
The number of Chinese touring the world exceeds 100 million annually. Chinese are now the largest block of tourists leaving China on vacation to visit other countries, and most if not all of them go home when the vacation ends instead of asking for asylum.
Maoism, the Little Red Guard and the Cultural Revolution died with Mao.
Yes, China is a one party system, but the way China selects its president every 5 to 10 years is based on an Electoral system similar to the one in the U.S. but without the popular vote in each province. Instead only members of the CCP are allowed to vote in national elections, but there are more than 80 million scattered across the country and the membership continues to grow at a fast pace as more people apply or invited and are accepted.

Dear Guru Writer, Mr. Lloyd Lofthouse:
I really appreciate your info about today /modern Chinese Communist.
100 millions of tourists who return to their homeland represent about 10% Chinese population = privilege citizens.
I have few of Northern Vietnamese acquaintances whose family members are high ranking in Communist Party. Regardless of their privilege to have their children to study abroad, the safety of all of their loved ones in the hand of Communist Party = how much one can leave for good in exchange to have many in death penalty?
When I was in University, I knew one young Chinese female who family is very rich with her brother in France, her sister in USA, and she is in Canada. All have house, good career and good bank account. I did not know if they become citizenship yet?
To be honest with you, the majority will prefer to be a king among all thugs (=mafia leader). I would prefer to live modestly among all humanitarians = just to be a citizen in a country where humanity and civility is treasured.
Realistically, the nature in LOW CLASS of human beings is all about ego, greed and lust. Humanity and civility need to be cultivated in Public Education and free for all learners in K-12. I am not ashamed to admit that I used to be greedy in my own right of being born to be smart, good looking and rich. As a result, I think that I can own everything that I set to have.
Thanks God to bless me with twice shipwrecks, many flirting with death in traffic accidents, and one minor stroke that impaired my look, speech, movement, and my short term memory. I constantly ask myself what I would do for a few years left on Earth.
I wish that I can reach out to all educators who would recognize the difference between being attachment and detachment of teaching profession = do your best without any frustration, without expectation from LOW CLASS human beings, but with joy and with motivation to alleviate the fear of the unknown and to instill the perseverance, patience, humanity and civility in the mind of all learners.
My father taught me through his daily activities until his death:
1) Giving and helping others within our own ability and no condition.
2) Sharpening body, mind and spirit through exercise, work and learn
3) Eating and sleeping moderately
4) The best art is to focus in constantly breathing without a chattering mind.
In short, I do not easily trust all superficial/theoretical policies, but through seeing the true DAILY condition of living in people. Whenever people work, learn and enjoy entertainment harmoniously, the governmental leadership has disposed the good policies.
Peter Thiel, Bill Gate, Eli Broad, The Walton family, Donald Trump, Roger Stone, Newt Gingrich are the good example to see American Governmental Leadership has NOT disposed GOOD POLICIES in the last 30 years.
Respectfully yours,
May
