This will get no coverage, especially in the NY Times.
No reporter will demand that Trump and every one of his spokesperson say whether David Duke and his followers are deplorable or not. No reporter will then report “Trump agrees that some of his supporters are deplorable”. Or “Trump denies that David Duke and his neo Nazi party are deplorable”.
Because why would they report that when there is a Hillary Clinton speech or sentence they can parse for more evidence of her criminality, out of toughness, stupidity, arrogance, and every other negative thing they want to say about her. Time for the next negative story on Hillary when she asked for steak she only said “please” and not “if you please” so she is out of touch and rude.

Morning Joe, just covered the remark. I think Clinton may have under estimated at 50%. It is probably above 60% . a
Amazing how a conservative Republican host has been the fairest to Bernie and now Hillary.
He pointed to a SC. poll 80% support for a Muslim Ban. 33% support for closing Mosques.
This has always been the undercurrent of American politics. The Democratic Party of the past was an uneasy coalition of Northern Immigrants (Labor) and Southern Dixiecrat’s (racists).
LBJ freed the slaves and that coalition blew apart. Since Nixon the Republican party has stoked the racial undercurrents of American politics. After Obama’s 2012 win the National party made an attempt to become more inclusive and failed. The cats out of the bag their base is over 50% a basket of deplorables.
Including everyone I know who is voting for Trump. They hate the “others” more than they value their own future. (Should that be in quotes.)

Joel,
As you know, there have always been politicians, especially in the pre-1970s South, who played the race card to distract voters’ attention from the fact that they were doing nothing to improve anyone’s lives. They could always use the N word to get elected again and again without producing any benefits, just racism and resentment.

The Deplorables, huh? I don’t think Hulk Hogan will be able to save this movie, even with his acting prowess. He was amazing in Rocky III, though… This movie has the wrong Duke and looks like the usual special effects cheese. A bunch of explosions and implosions. Gratuitous violence. I hope they didn’t spend too much making it. Looks like another box office dud like Won’t Back Down.
Just two more months of this _____ to go!

It’s been a long year, Diane. We’re almost there. The Donald will lose. The privatization profiteers will be defeated again and again. We will overcome. We spring eternal.
You know, after a month of school, my site admin is about to reorganize my classes. I was informed on my way to the teachers’ parking lot on Friday. I’m keeping my splendid 8th grade students, but losing my great 7th grade classes to take a 6th grade class because the assistant principal just remembered I am the only one at the school with multiple subject credentials.
Admin didn’t order enough English or history books for the sixth graders this year, since they are always trying to cut corners to buy more Chromebooks. They will use this as an opportunity to try to force me to, like the uncertified teacher was doing, take the class to the computer lab every day to log the students onto the new online textbook, disregarding the students’ rights to textbooks they can take home for homework, and to a classroom of their own.
Admin tech heads probably think they’ve won. But now those students have their right to a fully qualified teacher — a teacher who will stand up for the rights they have been denied for the past month. The destabilizing event to take place this week when we make the switch will feel like a churning burn.
But in the end, everything will be better. That, to me, is 2016. This too shall pass.

I am going to get those books. I will use technology; technology will not use me.

My last school, LCT, only provided classroom sets of textbooks to the students who were not on the college track. No one was allowed to take a textbook home. In my special ed class, they couldn’t afford the very expensive workbooks attached to the reading program. I will not repeat the illegal and time consuming measures I was forced to take. That was the year I was not rehired for not following program protocols! The next year saw major upgrades to the program. I comfort myself with the idea that my written critique had something to do with the changes although honestly I never could have presented the program in the totally scripted fashion the administration all of a sudden demanded. How I was supposed to meet the individual needs of these IEP students by parroting a script, I am still not sure. My professional training was irrelevant.

The online textbooks are scripted. Poorly. Fortunately for my soon to be students, the Williams suit that was settled in 2004 forced the California DoE to require that students have textbooks and qualified teachers. (It was helpful during Deasy’s illicit drive for iPads instead of books and teachers.) My state is on my side this time.
Yet I have to be careful, though. I’ve spent the greater part of this weekend working on it. That you were let go for not following the script sends a shiver through my bones and a drop of sympathy to my eye. Tech heads get nasty.
I still say the arc bends toward justice. On the topic of literature. Of technology. Of democracy.

From a master of code words: “Anti-Fascist is a Code Word for Anti-White”
What does this tell us? Bueller? Anyone?

If anti-fascist is code for anti-white, what does that make all of the American and allied soldiers who fought Hitler and Mussolini in WW2? Thanks Mr. Dukey for letting us know that you are definitely pro-fascism in the same way those arch enemies of American freedom and democracy were. Congrats on coming back out of the closet on Trumps frayed and befouled coat tails.

Disgusting. This should be the top story in every newspaper and on all news programs. It won’t be, but it should be.
