It is Fox News vs. Fox News!
Bill O’Reilly thinks that Judge Curial is a fine judge but says he should recuse himself from judging Trump. Remove any hint of “bias.”
Megyn Kelly, once a lawyer, says “nonsense!” That’s not the way the law works. Defendants don’t get to pick their judges.
If Trump wins his fight to force the judge out (which he won’t), he won’t accept a Muslim judge. Probably he won’t accept a woman judge. Defendants don’t get to pick their judges, even when the defendant is very very rich.

Get a load of this.

Trump is right! We live in a time of liberal fascism where any wrong word can get you branded with “hate speech.” If Trump loses it will get so much worse in this country. We also need to set a rational example for Europe. Europe is getting completely destroyed right now. Read the news. Liberal fascism is very dangerous. Too much weakness leads to destruction.

For John,
“liberal fascism where any wrong word can get you branded with “hate speech.”
I’m laughing loud and hard at such foolishness. I think the proper term would be neo-liberal and/or neo-conservative and/or libertarian and/or fundamentalist born again Christians, and/or Trumpism.
Is Rush Limbaugh a liberal fascist? Where the hate from liberal talk radio; is there any liberal talk radio shows?
Conservative radio talk shows create an environment of hate. In a study of just four conservative radio talk shows — “Rush Limbaugh Show,” the “Glenn Beck Program,” “Savage Nation” and the “John & Ken Show” — it was discovered that using hateful rhetoric, these hosts have cast immigrants as disease-ridden, equated pro-immigrant organizations with neo-Nazis, called Islam an ‘evil religion,’ claimed the Obama administration is promoting ‘race riots’ and made fun of the ethnicity of Asian-American politicians

I wonder if John knows who gave birth to this environment of far right conservative hate media. In 1987, President Ronald Reagan killed, with his veto, the Fairness Doctrine when Congress voted to make it permanent. Reagan said the Fairness Doctrine was a violation of free speech. That was wrong. The Fairness Doctrine did not limit what anyone could say or think. All it did was require that both sides of an issue had the same amount of media time at the same time from the same media source in a fair and honest debate where both sides could attack and/or defend an issue. The Fairness Doctrine had been around since 1949 and had been challenged in the courts all the way to the Supreme Court where it survived.
President Reagan also published “A Nation at Risk” that was later found to be flawed, biased, and wrong in its claims that our public schools were failing.
Another major blow to freedom and honesty based on facts was the conservative Supreme Court ruling called Citizens United that opened the door to the brutal partisanship taking place across the country today where cherry picking facts, spreading hate and distrust and lying have become an industry to fool as many Johns and Janes as possible.
According to PolitiFact, Republicans lie three times more often than Democrats. To verify this, back during the election between Romney and Obama, I fact checked all the claims both candidates made during the presidential debates and Romany lied more than Obama by a wide margin.

Yes, politicians lie. Both sides lie. But one side, the side that gave birth to and supports hate radio, just lies more than the other.

What about the Vergara trial in Los Angeles? Considering what he base his verdict on, I think that judge was handpicked.

He wasn’t, though.

How do we know that someone manipulated that trial to end up with that judge?

The same way we know that a judge isn’t biased against Donald Trump because his parents were Mexican: We don’t. But we begin with the assumption that judges can be trusted to follow the rules, and we don’t depart from that assumption unless we have some affirmative evidence (unfavorable rulings don’t count) that he isn’t following the rules. And we trust that court systems distribute cases among judges in accordance with the rules that govern case distribution, unless there’s some specific evidence that they’re not.
I’m talking about the rules by which courts are governed, to be clear. People are free to think and say what they like, including that some judge is biased because he’s Mexican-American or some other reason.

This is like responding to an argument that the government bears the burden of proof in criminal proceedings with a list of people who have been convicted of crimes.

Have you ever read President Truman’s biography. Truman was a judge before he became VP and then President. He was one of three judges and Truman talked about how the other two were corrupt and during trials would often duck down behind the bench and play cards.

You’ve convinced me. Judge Treu was almost certainly bribed in the Vergara case. More likely than not, at a minimum.

To be guilty of favoritism to the prosecution of the Vergara trial, would the judge have to be bribed. Maybe his personal opinion is that public school teachers are mostly incompetent, he hated unions, and that a for-profit education system in the marketplace would work better. Judges are not exempt from being stupid and biased any more than journalists are.

Will Hillary fully support Common Core? She has been very silent on the education issue.
Depending on who donated to the Clinton Foundation I would expect more Gates et al donations, more CC implementations, more testing mandates–new ones invented, and educational horrors coming our way.
She has to pay back her supporters.
This whole election scenario has been a nightmare. Is there 1 honest politician to run for president?
Doesn’t seem like it anymore.
So here come more charters and private schools.

The Clinton’s electoral success has always involved throwing their political base under the bus, with Bill and Hillary assuming they had nowhere else to go. NAFTA, abolishing AFDC, the crime bill, etc., were all betrayals of the Democrats core constituency. They consider our interests theirs to sell or trade away for their benefit.
In other words, assume that her betrayal of teachers and public education is a done deal.

Thankfully, however, and very importantly: This is all coming at a time when the Opt Out (of testing) movement is not only growing, but is each year more efficient, more powerful, and more organized. Politicians can sell out parents, but parents/teachers/students can learn how to sabotage the game.

Yes, keep opting out. That’s the best way to send a powerful message. New Yorkers stopped Cuomo. We can bring the testing machine to a stop

It is appalling they’re all going along with attacking this judge. Horrifying. They should all immediately apologize for their behavior.
Trump is a small and petty person and he’s also a spoiled, self- centered brat. It’s a shame no one anywhere along the line taught him how to treat other people since obviously he has no interior check or filter on his own actions.
He’s the best example of how wealth insulates people from accountability for their actions. No one ever called him on anything.
