Thousands of people signed a petition to permit guns at the GOP convention in Cleveland, but the US Secret Service stepped in and said “no way.” They have to protect the nominee, and they invoked the law to squash the 2nd Amendment rights of the delegates, who will now be “sitting ducks,” unarmed.
No “Blazing Saddles,” no “Shootout at the OK Corral.”

“who will now be ‘sitting ducks,’ unarmed”
Except for the hidden Secret Service snipers watching for all those 11 million illegal immigrants that are all rapists and crooks—according to Trump.

There is a new petition on Change.Org to allow concealed carry of firearms for visitors to the White House tours, as well. I’m glad to see that the GOP convention petition was widely accepted. I hope the petition to permit firearms on White House tours is also widely accepted. #2A

stock73, surely you jest. The Secret Service would never allow firearms in the White House. What could possibly go wrong with that scenario?!

But the right of the people to keep and bear arms . . . shall be abridged?

I am disappointed. Just imagine the potential for television drama at the GOP convention if the delegates were packing heat.

Well it’s nice to know somebody in fed gov is awake at the switch. Still, I admit glee at the idea of an inadverent circular-firing squad at the GOP convention.

Wasn’t the petition originally intended tongue-in-cheek? To highlight the double standard of advocating for guns everywhere—except where it affects politicians? I mean, yay for the FBI/Secret Service having common sense, but how about some for the GOP?

I don’t relish the thought of violence, regardless of who we are talking about. Some compassion, common sense and common ground is more my speed. We sure could use more, all the way around.
Godspeed to each of us – we are going to need it. One people, one planet, one future; and we are going down in self-inflicted flames. What other species destroys itself intentionally?
Ironically the answer is the “most intelligent.”

I’m not sure that homo supposedly sapiens should be considered the “most intelligent” species.

We always portray early Americans as gun toting wild men. It’s never really been so. Even in the days of the wild west, visitors had to check their guns when they came to town.
It’s fine to own a properly secured firearm. However, they aren’t meant to be accessories.

So are we Americans in any less danger as we walk in public being increasingly surrounded by any “Tom, Dick and crazy Harry” that gets a gun? Should we have to be subjected to guns in the hands of every person who wants one just because “the NRA” says so and pays off politicians to work in their favor? How are we different than a presidential nominee? Are we less human? Those attendees at the upcoming convention who argue that everyone has the right to bear arms DESERVES to be in a confined space with fellow like-minded politicians and delegates who also believe in the right to bear arms. Let Cruz and Trump enter their convention with loaded guns in their holsters! Anyone against “guns for all” can participate from a safety zone and be projected in real time on a wide screen tv! Let the cards fall where they may! If they haven’t learned the lesson from Newtowne or Columbine, perhaps they can learn it at the convention!

Don’t all of these candidates support the right to carry arms? Why aren’t they speaking out about this 2nd Amendment violation!?

Not gonna happen. How can you prove that ordinary people are better in handling guns than professionally trained secret agents in case of an unexpected incident???
