Michelle Rhee was a failure in D.C.: despite nearly nine years of Rhee-Henderson policy, it remains one of the nation’s lowest-scoring districts. Rhee created StudentsFirst, funneled money to hard-right a Republicans, then supposedly retired from the organization.
Like a robot programmed to demolish public education and teachers, StudentsFirst keeps moving along, doing what it was created to do. Now it is active in Alabama, spreading campaign cash to rightwing politicians. Read Larry Lee’s account of their Alabama activities.
Behind StudentsFirst lies a foundational lie. That lie is the claim that they know what should be done to improve education. Their example: Washington, DC.
Why does anyone listen to them?
Q. “Why does anyone listen to them?”
A. “… spreading campaign cash …”
Beat me to it!
The people that listen to lies from Students First are either lazy/ignorant or corruptible—meaning the money Students First is dolling out is meant to buy support. Lazy ignorant people will listen to and believe the loudest voice giving credence to the old adage of the squeaky wheel getting the grease while the other wheels are ignored until they fall off.
A perfect example of lazy ignorant fools are Donald Trumps blind, deaf and loud supporters.
Students First is “investing” in Alabama because Governor Bentley just signed a law to allow charters to open in Alabama. Unlike many of its neighbors, Alabama has not been part of the tax dollar feeding frenzy known as charters. As a result, the chum is in the water, and the sharks are circling. The goal is to turn over lots of Alabama’s neediest, poorest students to the highest bidders. The state would like nothing better than to step aside and let the “miracles” begin. However, I predict that Huntsville, where all the scientists reside, will opt for a highly selective science based yuppie academy.
Here’s the link to the new law: http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2015/03/charter_schools_coming_to_alab.html
By the way, Gov. Bentley, an anti-gay moralist, was just caught in a sex scandal. Isn’t Karma great?

Yes, in more ways than one when you look at the foundation support that StudentsFirst depends upon.
