Voters in Jefferson County recalled their rightwing school board. Voters in Douglas County replaced their pro-voucher school board.
But voters in Denver gave “reformers” a sweeping victory. The new board will be 7-0 in support of Superintendent Tom Boasberg’s DFER agenda. Robert Speth, the challenger to board president Happy Haynes, lost by less than 1,000 votes. Haynes recently was appointed by the mayor as director of parks for the city. There will not be a single dissenting vote on the board.

We will continue to get mixed results that probably will always lean in favor of the oligarchs when we measure results across the country. One bite at a time, they will eat up the U.S. as if it were a cake.
And we must not forget that in a democracy there is always going to be another election and even when most of the people win what’s best for them, that can all change in the next election.
This fight well never end. Our children and their children and grandchildren will still be struggling against the greed and power of the 0.1%.
I think that the only way to end the Age of Reformation is for the American people to suffer to the point that they are willing to rise up in rebellion and exterminate the 0.1% like the French and the Russians did in their infamous revolutions. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee that things will get better for the people. It just means the faces change at the top with no way to know what they will do once they have the power in their hands.
Power does corrupt and absolute power does corrupt absolutely. Even saints are corruptible.

Thank you veteran Teacher for your last sentence, “”Power does corrupt and absolute power does corrupt absolutely. Even saints are corruptible.””
It takes years of practice in teaching, reading, writing, and working from manual labor to the dangerous war environment, you have voiced the absolute truth in this dichotomous life on Earth.
I admit that people need to cultivate their consciousness through sharpening their body, mind and spirit to the point where people can conquer their fear of the unknown, in order to overcome the corruption within.
It sounds simple, but human’s body, mind and spirit need time to overcome all challenges of greed, lust and ego with the absolute help of consciousness to become as pure and as strong as a natural diamond. May (Back2basic)

Bad news about Denver Board being bought by billionaires. Good news about Jeffco. Some places are more vulnerable to democracy and some places are more captured by big money. Took over 2 yrs of constant opposition to force out the destructive unqualified Broadie hired by our own renegade school board. The speed of democracy requires the patience of a saint and the stamina of a camel, unlike the speed of money which organizes the world as fast as they can write the checks. NYC is a place of big money so it’s public schools remain highly segregated and unequal, and beaten up by the Queen of Privatization “Got to Go List” Eva. Outside NYC, the Opt-Out movement makes outstanding progress. Turning the tide against privatization and standardized testing is a long road with lots of strategizing required but no question the Opt-Out movement is making headway.

Lots of questionable things happen in Denver. I even read that there was national attention on how they silence the pubic. As far as Happy this article says it all. She was pressured into staying because Boasburg needed 7 solid votes in his pocket. http://watchdog.org/243442/denver-parks-director-spends-plenty-taxpayer-time-school-board-position/
