Bill Gates recently pointed to Denver as one of the success stories of Gates-style reforms. It has been securely in the control of corporate reformers for ten years.
In this article, Jeannie Kaplan–a former member of the Denver Board of Education– lays out the facts about test scores, graduation rates, achievement gaps, etc.
Who is right?
Bill Gates or Jeannie Kaplan?
You be the judge!

God, oops I mean Billy the Goates is always correct. Why do you ask?

http://watchdog.org/243442/denver-parks-director-spends-plenty-taxpayer-time-school-board-position/ “Barnes-Gelt said Haynes should have just served out her current school board term, but she was pressured to run again because DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg needs “seven solid votes in his pocket.” I have also heard there is national interest in keeping a solid backing for Denver to keep the public silent. They have done a pretty good job of that.

Susan Barnes-Gelt is exactly right. I actually think they didn’t expect anyone to run against Happy Haynes. In a short time after her uncontested election she would have resigned and the majority would have appointed someone. Now thanks to Robert Speth there is a real race.

I appreciate the information given in the attached materials, but for someone who is not familiar with the data and who is unaware of the implications, it needs to be more fully explained. As you know, education process and its analysis is complicated. The Denver group and you need to explain in more detail and in more direct and clear language what all of the data means. Please advise as we in Dallas will be having to deal with presenting the information to the public, the voters, so that we don’t end up in the same situation.
Thank you. Susybelle Gosslee Dallas, Texas
