The Koch brothers are two of the richest men on the planet. They plan to plop $1 billion–give or take a few million–into the 2016 Presidential race. Their original candidate was Scott Walker but he seems to be shrinking by the day.
You might be interested in knowing which products benefit their bottom line. Most of the consumer products are either paper towels or toilet paper.
Here is a list. Here is another.
Be a savvy shopper.
And if you care about public education, avoid Walmart.

Vote with your $$$$$. Thanks, Diane.

Hillary is a 1%er too. The 60’s ended a long time ago.

My dear. Hillary and friends are the 1/10 of 1% who own the world. One percenters are not controlling the show… they are just Americans who are able to earn over 500k, unlike the majority us who will be lucky to break 60K working 2 jobs.
Get your friends to register as democrats and GET OUT AND VOTE FOR BERNIE SANDERS… who is one of us… the people who want to see the government work for the common good, as the Constitution guaranteed until the Supreme Court made corporations into PEOPLE.

Little by little people are starting to understand that they might have some power, if they act in unison, against those who are set on using their great wealth to destroy our communities and rob us of local control.

They are a hydra with many tentacles. While we can avoid the obvious paper products (and I do), they are like a virus and have spread into many aspects of life that are difficult to avoid.

Boycotts do make a difference. They are a non-violent tool for justice. Think back to the grape and lettuce boycotts of the 1960s which helped the United Farmworkers get recognition and contracts. Think about the boycott of apartheid South Africa which helped isolate the white regime, free Nelson Mandela, and which Bishop Tutu explicitly thanked for helping the cause of his nation. But, boycotts have to be organized, long-term and persistent. The BDS campaign against the illegal Israeli occupation of the West Bank is making progress year by year. The Koch Brothers are good boycott candidates b/c of their consumer products. I’m posting their list on FB and encourage others to spread it too.

And South Africa is so much better off. Mandela ran the country into the ground. Great guy. Great community organizer. Crummy leader of a country. As far as the things your planning to do do any of these have to do with education?

The Kochs have always supported the worst of the repugnant Republican Rheeformers. And Walmart, Amazon, whoa, no! For years, I’ve periodically enjoyed laughing and crying with this 2005 song: http://www.jibjab.com/originals/big_box_mart.

Georgia Pacific is in nearly every commercial, corporate, and retail bathroom in the country. Difficult to avoid unless you carry your own non-Koch toilet paper and paper towels.

Whew, for the most part I don’t use their products! I have to admit, though, I do occasionally buy American Greeting cards and I get my meds at Walmart.

The “wallet vote” and “foot vote” could wag the dogs.
Alice Walker: “The most common way people give up their power
is by thinking they don’t have any. Until we are willing to internalize
THAT concept at least as deeply as “we’ve” internalized the value
system imposed on us by those who would hold us in place, we
will STAY in that place.”
A boycott, as an instrument of protest, is non-violent, private, and
can be effective. It’s about time we “starve” THEIR beast.
We either put the money where our mouth is, OR put the money
where THEIR mouth is.

I haven’t shopped at Walmart for decades starting the day I first heard they supported school vouchers and did all they could to crush labor unions.

I stopped shopping at Walmart because their employees are worthless even after they received a raise. I once complained to a store manager and he said”No one forces you to shop here” so, i don’t

Considering what most Walmart employees are paid and how they are treated, can we really expect better from them?
I’ve read that Walmart has mandatory workshops where employees must watch propaganda films about the great Walton empire and in other workshops they are taught how to file for food stamps.

It would be great if they used their power and money to make positive changes in the industries, that would be monumental. It could also be as lucrative for them or more. I would like to challenge them to be a positive financial giant , it’s not to late.

I have to laugh. With all of the problems relating to Education our stupid union a few years ago wanted us to go over to Walmart to protest. Many times I think the union is out of touch with reality.
