Alabama sage Larry Lee, a strong supporter of public education, ordered 100 copies of “Education Inc.” he offered it free on his blog and was flooded with requests from across the state.
“Within 24 hours I had more requests than I could fill. They came from 38 counties, from nine school superintendents, from a bunch of principals, from deans of schools of education, associations and more. Person after person said they wanted to show this to their club, to their retirees group, to their neighbors, at education workshops, etc.”

Well, don’t expect the leadership in UTLA to follow Mr. Lee’s example – of showing the money trail within school districts. Thanks to Mr. Lee for his generosity. I hope his distributing 100 copies of this outstanding documentary that reveals the true character of those who are trying to destroy public education will have a ripple effect throughout Alabama and beyond.

A little funny and sad. If all these people want it soooo badly, why not just buy it? It’s $20. I’m sure these principals, superintendents, deans, associations, and so on can afford to buy a copy of the DVD. Heck, I bought one, and I’m a teacher.
It’s not so disappointing that people want free stuff, it’s more the hypocrisy of people claiming they so badly want to support something, and then, only when it’s offered free and easy, to jump on it like a pack of wolves. Human nature or not, this mindset can be changed. Guys and gals, if you can easily afford to support someone’s work, and want their product — just buy it. Don’t wait for it to be free, then beg and claim that you wanted it so badly. It’s a bit dishonest and speaks poorly about our priorities.

Wow. #judgemuch ? You don’t even know me and how many thousands of hours I have spent FOR FREE fighting for YOUR PROFESSION! You have no idea how much money I have spent traveling, speaking, rallying and citizen lobbying FOR YOUR PROFESSION! I gave up my own business, a car, sold the house I’ve lived in for 13 years, and moved 100 miles away from the city I’ve lived in for 30 years to fight FOR YOUR PROFESSION! Why? Because your work environment is our children’s learning environment and our country’s future relies on the education our children receive in our public education system.
I constantly remind folks how much out of pocket money teachers spend on supplies, lunch money and emergency clothes and jackets so please, do not begrudge ME a free DVD that I did not beg for, and a DVD that’s going to hopefully make a difference in YOUR PROFESSION.

I have no idea who you are and wasn’t speaking about you personally. Still I remain skeptical that so many well-positioned activists need a “free” copy of a DVD in order to spread the word to their communities.
Perhaps I had a recurring pain of bitterness that “some” people are so quick to take, but not to give. People who cannot afford it, well that would be completely understandable. From the list of recipients, though, I question if that was the case.
I apologize if I upset you with my comments. The Education, Inc. video and the free giveaway were done in good faith. Please continue to spread the word about corruption in our school system. I just hope that we, the people, don’t have to wait for free things in order to get involved.

I am a TEACHER. I am a past School Board President in Southern CA.
I just bought 2 copies.
As kids go back to school ALL grassroots groups must show this to their community across the country.
When land developers start opening up Charter Schools it’s time for everyone to stop arguing and get out there and STOP THIS NIGHTMARE.
Go to your city councils and speak up!
That’s right the cities ,because your property taxes go there in CA and a large percentage of these taxes are then sent to the school districts.
Tell the councilmen, who like to get re-elected, that this has to STOP.
If the school boards won’t listen TRY the City Councils. Their meetings are on TV.
It’s NOT OK for business to take over education. And DESTROY what has made our Nation great.
