When Governor Cuomo’s budget was passed by the Néw York State Senate, it included mandates for test-score based evaluation of teachers and other provisions that teachers found insulting. Here is the State Senate’s Wall of Shame and Wall of Fame, identifying those who voted for and against this anti-teacher legislation. I previously posted a similar chart for the New York Assembly. Save this list for the next election if you live in New York.

How could Stewart-Cousin are advocate miss this critical vote? The list is included.

Great if you want to remember these votes come election time but right now we need to dialogue with Regents and continue to hold legislators accountable to do more than talk.
Instead of writing off your Assembly member or NYS senator, ask them where and when the sit down with the local Regent will be and what they will doing to mitigate the damage done in this budget bill.
Looming large in this will be the creation of SLOs for out-of-subject teachers. Insisting on locally assessed student portfolios without a state test component would be of help. This could affect the vast majority of teachers in NY, but there is much to do right now.
