Two Champs charter schools were supposed to open in Delray Beach and Riviera Beach, Florida, but they failed to enroll enough students. They told Palm Beach County school district officials they will never open. Each was supposed to enroll 112 students but enrolled only 2 or 3 students.
Is the public wising up? Or is the market saturated?

The charter schools in my area have a terrible time hanging on to their teachers.

You gotta love the subtle humor.
We’ll have to put that one in for quip of the year.

Good news. May the bad ones all close. May the for profits all close. Those that are grass roots and specialty, and aren’t funneling profits to sister companies, et al., I have no issue with that.
All this money spent on trying to wrangle public education dollars into profits could be so much better spent. If Gates truly was benevolent, he’d sponsor Pre-k. He’d sponsor innovative special ed programs. Perhaps, even, gifted and talented programs. He’d sponsor techie programs. He’d sponsor breakfast, lunch, after school tutoring with snacks! He’d sponsor family programs for ELL’s so their mom/dad could come learn English. Perhaps pay for some classroom aides in schools that could really use the help keeping kids safe and engaged.
The billionaire’s are so hungry for the end-game profits, they are blinded. We’re on to their rhetoric. You know who is a hero? The neighborhood people who volunteer, just for the good of the kids. Maybe if the billionaire boys club ponied up some $ without strings and with good intentions, for the good of the children, their hearts would grow 3 sizes.

Although I am not familiar with this area, the responsibility for this debacle appears to lie with the state’s Charter School Appeals Commission. The local school board denied their charter.
