In Louisiana, a judge turned back the appeal of 17 legislators who wanted to stop the implementation of Common Core and CC testing. The legislators claimed that the state had adopted this set of standards and tests without going through the proper procedures, including hearings. State Commissioner John White said that implementation would proceed. There are more legal challenges in the offing.

Why not let the electorate vote on this issue in a special election? Would the Common Core crooks allow that to happen without a fight to stop it?

White cooked the numbers on the CC student survey. About half the kids took the survey and his agency released that percentage of a half implying it was a percentage of a whole.
Does not give me a whole lot of confidence in how ed reformers will use these numbers. It’s particularly egregious because it was a student survey, supposedly conducted to get their “input” into the tests and then used as marketing.
Where’s the quality and ethical controls on how politicians use these numbers? Are we just supposed to rely on their inherent goodness?

Direct quote from the Advocate article:
“Joan Hunt, who represents White and the Education Department, countered that undoing four years of work would harm teachers, administrators and schoolchildren.”
John White, LDOE, BESE and Chas Roemer (BESE President) have NEVER considered the harm they are inflicting on the teachers, administrators and schoolchildren.
They are blindly following the CC$$ implementation script.
My fellow teachers are now presenting lessons that might prepare our scholars for the tests in the spring. The school districts have made decisions on Texts/NoText EUREKA Myth,… and the teachers are left to put the pieces together. I began the year telling my students we will be ready for the LEAP/PARCC/EOC/Pearson Money Grab/whatever they throw at us….
I refuse to lie to my students so I am committed to getting them prepared.
If we fail, I may have to be committed.
Love the play on words – commit or be committed.
……………………………… execute or be executed.
