The Working Families Party briefly flirted with the possibility of running an independent slate. Its candidate for governor was going to be Zephyr Teachout, a Fordham Law professor who specializes in investigating public corruption.
However, at the party’s annual convention, WFP endorsed Cuomo after he promised to govern like a Democrat instead of a conservative Republican.
Teachout has not given up. She may challenge Cuomo in the Democratic primary.
Here is her statement on education.

The WFP feckless decision to support Cuomo is reprehensible: his promise to act like a Democrat is bogus, bogus, bogus. He will continue to support the educational ‘deform’ agenda and push for more charter schools. We know whose pocket he is in and to whom he owes fealty: the millionaire/billionaire boys club.

Expression through beautiful promise is easy said than done without a legality and validity of its own consequence.
Please learn the strategies from business corporate world. If I do not misunderstand what I have read in this blog, the majority of teachers are fear to lose their licences in speaking out against THE WRONG educational policy.
Likewise, all voters shall demand all political candidates who must endorse their promise of policy along with its legal consequences within its mandate. If they fail to deliver their promise, they shall obey the decision of voters’ legal commission formed by all important supporters in its own expertise without corporate involvement, such as their voluntary resignation immediately without an appeal to legal system.
I am from Canada, Ontario province. From Conservative Party, The Ex- Prime Minister Brian Mulroney (Lawyer background), the Ontario Ex- Premier Mike Harris (Teacher background), they sold Canadian public Resources to rich foreigner Corporate through their Common Sense policy.
It is the history of all promises through Common Sense or Common Core which will repeat its failure to all voters’ expectation. I do not know why all intellectual supporters and voters have many years of experiences and expertise in Law and in Public Administration but cannot provide our society with a prudent guidance or solution to prevent all political candidates to commit fraudulence after s/he is in power?
Am I naive in political world? Why are citizens fear for their safety from people whom we call them as public servants, such as police, governor, and …? Please educate all voters who do not have political background. Back2basic

Well, this is a lovely story and I’m sure Ms Teachout is a nice person. But what I don’t understand is why many people STILL refuse to recognize that there ALREADY IS an amazing, legitimate, and extremely dedicated slate of candidates running for Governor to challenge Cuomo. They are Howie Hawkins for Governor and Brian Jones for Lt. Governor of the Green Party!!! You will not find two more qualified or progressive candidates anywhere! In 2010 Howie Hawkins came in 3rd of all the candidates running for governor! He won Ballot Status for the Green Party with no corporate money and without being cross-endorsed by any other party. If that is not a track record of success and know-how, I don’t know what is!
I’m constantly shocked by how many Democrats just simply refuse to recognize that the Democratic party is completely corrupt with no hope of reform. Sure, there are a few good Democratic elected officials out there. But for the most part the leadership of the party both within NYS and nationally is hopeless. It is a corporate party with a corporate agenda. Period. I encourage all true progressives to give up their addiction to voting for Democrats. It’s like breaking up with an abusive partner. Go cold turkey before they drag you and the entire planet down with them! The Green Party takes NO corporate money of any kind. Do what’s right for your children and the planet. Vote for the candidates that REALLY WILL challenge the corporate agenda. The education issue is just a symptom of the much bigger problem of corporate interests having taken over our government. Hawkins and Jones are the only candidates who are talking about all the issues and who are truly challenging the corrupt system. Make a REAL difference and send a REAL STRONG message in November. VOTE GREEN PARTY!!! VOTE HAWKINS/JONES!!

The Green Party wins and makes an appointment to the Supreme Court. If not, conservative jurists like Scalia and Thomas, are appointed.

Excellent point. Teachers siphoned off to one candidate. Environmentalists siphoned off to another candidate.
And the result-unions, at the mercy of ALEC Republicans. History repeats the Nader-Gore debacle.

From the Times Union:
http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/214287/cuomo-senate-dem-reunification-will-wait-til-next-year/
Speaking to reporters in Dutchess County, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that his desire to see the main Senate Democratic conference reunited with the breakaway Independent Democratic faction will have to wait until after this year’s elections.
“What we’re talking about is the upcoming political season — we have a little more government work to do,” said Cuomo, who on May 31 told the Working Families Party convention that the current Majority Coalition of Republican and IDC members was a failure that needed to end.
“I don’t expect us to do any major legislative initiatives,” Cuomo said. ” … We’ll finish the legislative session, we’ll then have an election year this year and we’ll go through the elections and then what we’re talking about is next year the reunification, not this year.”
WFP got PLAYED! Actually it’s members did as leadership sold them out. For the first time ever, I am voting GREEN!
WFP deserves to lose its line on the ballot for selling out progressives!

“I’m sorry I didn’t govern like a Democrat. I’ll try to do a better job in the future.” Kind of reminds me of the abusive spouse who says, “I’m sorry I hit you, baby. I’ll try not to do it again in the future.” How sad that the WFP fell for it.
