I hope PAR is brought up as a better alternative to VAM. And the fact that school boards around the country==not purchased by Bloomberg and ALEC–are coming out against the rise of high stakes testing and charters.

It’s going to be fun and maddening to witness all of the “parent voices” who for eleven years have (rightfully) demanded an end to mayoral control suddenly drop the issue so long as a candidate says the right thing about charter schools and hiring more teachers.

How about the emphatic statements that class sizes must be reduced without any coherent explanation of how that’s going to happen?

Hello, My name is Jill Conroy & I’m the author of the recent blog post entitled, “Boston Teacher:Why I Quit, Why I Fight”, that I had the privilege of DrRavitch choosing to post after I’d written it as a Comment on another post. Anyway, as you may know, Boston is about to lose a legend in the Mayor’s seat, as “Mumbles” Menino has chosen to step down from almost 2decades spent warming it. Is Dr Ravitch planning on hosting a mayoral debate for the Boston Candidates as she is in New York? & if not, would she be interested in being invited to? I’d be happy to arrange that if she is interested…she’d be providing a HUGE service to the teachers & children of the Boston Public School District by doing so Please let me know & I’ll make the arrangements.
Thanks, Jill Conroy 617-922-7861
