A reader sends news about the school board election in Minneapolis:
“Don’t know if you got Minneapolis school board results. TFAer Josh Reimnitz narrowly defeated Patty Wycoff. Margin was just 650 some votes out of over 21,000.This was a sad one. Dems were divided as normally intelligent Mpls Mayor R.T. Ryback gave his support to Josh, a 26-yr-old that only moved to Mpls last May, and influenced many others to follow. Keith Eliison and other major Dems supported Wycoff, long-time resident, involved activist and trained treacher. We need a major educational effort to Democrats so that more aren’t duped by these corporatist frauds.”
Only a TFA alum could move to a major city in May and have the money and political connections to win a school board election six months later.

Six months.
Sounds like a hired gun. What a joke.

Yep. How about Former TFA John White – six months in New Orleans from NYC and he was appointed State Superintendent. I have nothing good to say about TFA anymore. Even the supposedly educated troops should have done their homework and if they didn’t, shame on them.

Is there any way to compile all of the TFAers in political office/education in one place? I know Diane has written a few times on their undue influence and named some names. Is there a website somewhere to keep tabs?

Perhaps Josh can take on the reigning Ed Reform Idol winner, Tony Bennett of, Indiana, er, I mean who knows where next…

This represents a real failure of Minneapolis Democrats, which includes me. On the bright side, we took back the state senate and house to compliment Governor Mark Dayton, and defeated a voter ID amendment, and a one man one woman marriage amendment. This might be what the local teachers union needs to get out their slump.

Josh has not won yet there are still two precincts that haven’t been counted he is currently leading by 700 votes, but a couple thousand have not been tallied yet.

Sec of State site says 21 of 21 precincts reported. Is there something I’m not seeing. Love to think this isn’t over.

That was wrong you needed to look at the votes by precints to see that 3 had reported yet. But it is now official Josh won by 729 votes over Patty. It shows what 10 times the spending does in a campaign.

Here’s the $$$$ trail, thanks to Edushyster, http://edushyster.com/?p=1102 and the mayor of Minneapolis must be in on it, please tweet him this link @MayorRTRybak to help make him know people are watching, though I doubt he cares, since days ago he was praising the greatness of Sacramento mayor, Kevin Johnson. I was hoping for much better for Minneapolis Public Schools, but the count down is rapidly escalating more now. Infiltration hatrick: TFA teaching in our public schools, the teacher evaluation and instruction run by TFA and McKinsey alum, and now a TFAer on the school board. Now how much data until we fold?

I’d like to see an interview w/TFA front and find out why the focus is on political takeover using well-funded rookies with little teaching experience. This sounds more like spies on a mission, assigned with a plane ticket, an expense account, a fact sheet, and a tape recording that will self destruct in…I thought TFA was supposed to be about trying to get inspired young teachers to begin a career serving struggling schools and neighborhoods.

We need a major educational effort to Democrats…
One starting point would be whether President Obama’s failure to follow through on human rights treaties would constitute an impeachable offense. What would Secretary Duncan have to say in President Obama’s defense?
How did Minneapolis school board candidates address their responsibilities for implementing treaties to safeguard the human rights of schoolchildren?
