I wrote a post earlier this summer saying that I planned to spend the summer writing a new book. Here is my progress report.
My goal was to finish the book by Labor Day. That would be a personal best for me (I started in mid-June).
I didn’t meet my goal. I have written about 100,000 words but I have two more chapters to go.
The blog most definitely used up a lot of time that I should have been devoting to the book. But I have enjoyed the blog so much that I thought it was worthwhile. I also have met many wonderful new friends via the blog.
I expect to have a completed manuscript by the end of this month, despite a heavy travel schedule.
If all goes well, I should have a published book before the summer.
Bear with me,
Diane

Your commitment to public school education and all it’s constituents ( students, teachers and parents) has been a driving force in the nations’ understanding of what’s at stake! Thank you for that and good luck in completing your book.

You are amazing! I am looking forward to devouring your book, marking it up with notes, paying it forward, and using it for discussion and action with our special ed. study group.
Thank you so very much for your leadership in the fight to save our public schools. It most definitely IS all about the kids!

You don’t have to worry about taking whatever time is necessary to do your best — this blog doesn’t tend to attract the “act in haste, repent at leisure” crowd. Between quality and quicker, we’all tend to prefer the first Q….
We await your new book when you feel it is ready for the public spotlight.
A modest proposal. Perhaps JerseyJazzman could persuade Wendy Kopp to volunteer to do a review after taking a much needed rest, considering how she exhausted herself on her in-depth look at Jonathan Kozol’s new book? Or maybe Diana Senechal could persuade Michelle Rhee to lend one of her dozens of young staffers to critique your tired old research methodology and present it on neutral ground, say, Edushyster’s website?
Now those are reviews that I, for one, can hardly wait to read….

Have I missed a potential title for the new book? Or must I attempt to patiently wait??
