Julian Vasquez Heilig combed through the Podesta emails released by WikiLeaks in search of education-related comments. He found quite a few.

I don’t think he included this one, where the Clinton campaign reacts to a question from the AFT about whether Joel Klein is involved in the campaign.
Education Week reported the story here.
Klein’s company Amplify lost about $500 million, when it was owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation. Murdoch dumped it, and Laurene Powell Jobs picked it up for the Emerson Collective, probably for a song.
But Klein is still in the money. Despite the epic failure of Amplify, Rupert Murdoch is paying him $4.6M per year to sit on the News Corp board. (And don’t forget that he filed for a pension from New York City for the eight years he spent as Chancellor, closing schools and opening charter schools.)
Klein is now working as “chief strategy” officer for the failing Oscar health insurance company, which is also losing millions fast. Klein has not had much luck in the business world. This company was co-founded by Josh Kushner, the brother of Trump’s son in law, Jared Kushner.
Diane: In an interview on MSNBC, Tim Kaine mentioned that is wife (I don’t know her name) works ini and has been heavily involved with promoting schools for years–it sounded like public schools where he mentioned PTAs. You probably are aware of this, but I was certainly warmed to hear it.
Tim Kaine’s wife went to integrated public schools in Richmond, Virginia, at a time when they were very controversial (maybe they still are). Her father was governor of Virginia. He wanted to show the state that his children would attend public schools, even predominantly black schools. Tim and his wife belong to the same Roman Catholic church where they were married many years ago. It is predominantly black. Tim’s wife was Secretary of Education in Virginia. She supports public education.
Tim Kaine’s wife, Anne Holton came to Albuquerque today to do an education forum / listening tour. She sat down with educators and AFT-NM leaders and actually LISTENED. She talked about Hillary Clinton’s thoughts and plans on public education. Can I just say that I personally have not felt this good about public education in many years. She talked about all of the issues we are facing and had a strong grasp on the issues. By the way, there are no plans for Trump to send a surrogate on a listening tour about public ed throughout the states.
When it comes to Joel Klein and his ilk, nothing succeeds like failure.
Why is it that the rich always seem to”fail” up? Middle class Americans doing this would be in the unemployment line or in jail. Seems like our 21st century “Democracy” is only making the rich, richer no matter how poor they perform.
It helps to have friends in high places and cadre of lawyers advising you. Working class folks are on their own.
The Peter Principal x the rich getting richer = zero accountability
I appreciate the effort to wade through those leaks and tweets.
Pick of the litter:
Stick to platitudes… List of people “with $$ and substance”…really a very bad list for substance, and not supporters of democratic governance of “public” institutions.
Laura,
The same phrase bothered me: substance and $$$.
$$$, yes.
Substance, no.
How do we know wiki leaks is leaking actual emails? Forgive my ignorance, but could it be that the leaks are all fabricated? How would we know the difference?
Notice that none of the leaks from Wikileaks are about Trump.
This is a one-sided vendetta.
Our intelligence agencies say the Russians did the hacking. They want Trump as president. He will break up NATO and ignore their reconquest of former satellite nations that broke free from USSR.
