Which is the most powerful player behind the scenes in corporate reform?
This article says, without doubt, McKinsey.
Where did David Coleman, architect of the Common Core standards, get his start: McKinsey.
Which firm pushes the narrative of a “crisis in education”: McKinsey.
Which firm believes that Big Data will solve all problems? McKinsey.
Look behind the screen, behind the curtain: McKinsey.
Is it reasonable to assume that the ‘behind the screen’ players at McKinsey, the ‘clients who purchase consulting time, are the not for profits and foundations who are also providing the financial wherewithal to the current players list of ‘deformers’? Who should be added to the McKinsey client list. It is time to call them out.
Strictly speaking, they are Not For Anyone Else’s Profits (NFAEPs).
Or maybe Not For Society In General’s Profit (NFSIGPs).
McKinsey just got hired to reform Rikers. There’s nothing they can’t do.
“As the chart indicates, McKinsey is in process of contracting with several states including New Mexico, Louisiana, and Florida to manage the PARCC when federal funding to manage it has dried up. ”
They should stop making assurances on the Common Core and PARCC. The truth is, no one has any idea how this thing will end up. They don’t know how the tests will be used (nor do they have any control over the tests will be used, because it’s state law) and they have no earthly idea who will be running it, or what it will look like in a decade.
“He co-authored the ed reform Bible Deliverology…”
It’s like a parody, but it’s true. Has Arne Duncan said “deliverology” yet? What about Tom Friedman?
“Deliverology?”
That must be closely related to “Trickeration,” a term used by boxing promoter, convicted felon and all around piece of work, Don King.
It’s incredible to hear the terminology spouted by so-called reformers, and realize that satirizing these human cartoons is almost impossible.
I always liked “mixologist” for “bartender” 🙂
Here’s Duncan, quoting Sir Michael. You knew it was out there!

Mr. King received a full pardon in 1983 from the Governor of Ohio.
“Governor Rhodes said he had relied heavily on the recommendations of Ohio’s Parole Board, which received many letters supporting King. Among those who wrote were the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the civil rights leader; Coretta Scott King, widow of Martin Luther King Jr.; Steve G. Davis, executive director of the National Publishers Association; Mayor George Voinovich of Cleveland; Art Modell, the Cleveland Browns president, and Gabe Paul, the Cleveland Indians president.”
As most here know, when TFA’ers sign on for their two years of do-gooding, they receive deferments from hedge funders, tech companies, graduate schools, etc. Guess who gives deferments to, and then hires, mad numbers of TFA wunderkinds?
Yep, McKinsey!
McKinsey is important, but not exclusive. And the way their ideology becomes praxis is by placing important people into six-figure executive jobs in large urban districts. They also plant their cadre in administrative positions at large school districts and promote people with MBAs into “education leadership.” About a dozen Chicago public schools executives come via MBA programs (usually, the University of Chicago) and the consultant firms (Boston Consulting Group is also up there with McKinsey). Other sources of “talent” who are immediately put over classroom teachers and real world principals include Teach for America, New Leaders for New Schools, and the Broad “Leadership” thingy.
