What do you do when you want to reach the public but you have no money and no access to the mainstream media?
Here’s what:
Some very brilliant educators decided to try a novel way to explain the issues to the public. They used comic journalism, a simple, direct means of communicating complex ideas.
What do you think? Is it an effective medium?
The link is incorrect… unless I’m missing something.
I’m missing it too!
Diane, the link above takes me to one of your earlier blogs about teachers needing R-E-S-P-E-C-T. I’m not sure it’s the correct link. 🙂
It was the wrong link! I fixed it.
I think the links can be found here:

I think it’s a great idea, though if I am putting on my critic’s hat, I think it gets wordy and rambly and would benefit from putting fewer ideas into each panel group, letting those sink in, and then breaking to a new section.
As an example, I thought this piece by Jen Sorensen/Slowpoke, about health care, was extremely effective:

I fixed the link, but thank you for helping me out
I’m also being sent to a different thread: the RESPECT one.
My real comment is awaiting moderation. Google for the correct link using “comic journalism education reform.”
Interesting. I believe work like this would be more effective. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDZFcDGpL4U
If this will get the attention of some reluctant readers, then go for it. Why not! We all learn differently.
Wow…this fits our profession so well….
I believe comic journalism is very effective. When something is made to look foolish it quickly diminishes its credibility.
