Alex Jones and his companies Infowars and Free Speech Systems were ordered by a jury in Connecticut to pay nearly $1 billion to some of the parents of victims murdered at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, as well as an FBI agent.
Jones falsely claimed that the massacre of children, teachers, and the principal at the school was faked and that the victims were “crisis actors.” He said repeatedly that the purpose of the hoax was to create political pressure for gun control.
Parents and relatives of those who were murdered were harassed and received death threats.
The money will not replace those they lost. The,parents will never hold their babies again. But Jones’ cruel campaign to deny that the massacre ever happened deserved punishment.
This is the second of three trials. Jones has no defense. He maligned the families to make money. Hopefully he will be bankrupted for his sins.

Jones probably has millions hidden in offshore accounts. Once it’s all over, he may fly off to some island to hide or launch a new conspiracy theory website (funded by RasPutin the Terrible) outside of the US.

All this is true if Jones has a lick of sense. But that remains to be seen.

Without a doubt.
He certainly saw this coming and had a lot of time to move his money outside the country, probably into the Cayman Islands or Swiss Banks.
And his companies will simply declare bankruptcy and that will be that.
Criminal enterprises can declare bankruptcy but students can’t.

Jones remote response to the verdict (he didn’t have the guts to be in court and face the families) was to laugh and comment
“Do these people actually think they’re getting any of this money?”

Alex Jones should not ever be allowed to declare bankruptcy until all the judgements against him are paid off. All of his current wealth, including that which he has sheltered, transferred to his dependents, moved into overseas accounts should be immediately forfeited and all future earnings should be garnisheed until all his debts to these parents are paid.
All the fear mongers and commentators, all the conspiracy nuts, etc need to be informed that if they cannot prove what they are saying against any person, even “public persons” can result it their being sued and their facing judgements like this.
We need to pass fairness in media laws that require any public broadcaster to allow opposing views equal time to right wing broadcasters. The biggest mistake the FCC did was to end the “equal time rule.” The airwaves are public property that broadcasters are allowed to use in the public interest. What we have now on our radio and TV bands is all slanted toward the most radical right wing political views.
We must return to federal limits on the number of media outlets a single company or individual may own both nation wide and in a single market.
We have let these authoritarians take over our air waves. It must be ended.
We need to find a way to police the internet and keep people like Jones from spreading their filth until they are sued.

I am sure he will say he has no money. Maybe he could work off his debt in prison.

Now he has said he was wrong, how do his followers feel.
Betrayed and disillusioned I hope.

He has stashed the money in a safe haven. He should go to prison until he pays. As a poor person would.

He should be waterboarded until he confesses where he stashed the money.

He’d better up the security on his home, homes and other property then.
He can’t move those out of the way.

Ronald Reagan’s FCC repealed the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Congress passed a bill restoring it, only to have it vetoed by Mr. Reagan.
We can thank the vile Mr. Reagan for the endless torrent of hate, lies and threats gushing through our communication channels to this day.
May Alex Jones lose every ill-gotten dime ever “earned.”

I would enjoy seeing Alex walking the road picking up trash, directed by a guy with a rifle.

Jones would dishonor the community volunteers and other honorable people who pick up trash along the roadside.
They should instead throw him into a rattlesnake infested pit and livestream the whole event.

Then again, that would dishonor rattlesnakes, but not for long!

I vehemently disagree with what Alex Jones says, but I will defend his right to say it in a rattle snake pit.

The billion dollars makes a statement of accountability and that they system works. Free speech and all – but you still can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater and you can’t bully and taunt and destroy lives of those whose lives have already been destroyed.
However – the guy should get life in prison.
Fine him a $1, throw him jail and throw away the proverbial key and he can free speech all he wants in the yard – just take away his access to computers, phones, and postage stamps.
And, as suggested in one West Wing episode, lock him and every day make him watch home movies of birthdays and family events and school children of every life lost in Sandy Hook.
Then figure out how to deprogram the people who subscribe and saturate themselves 18 hours a day to conspiracy theory media and that news station that perpetuates it.

AJ should be court-charged DOUBLE. Attacking the hearts, lives and memories of those dear Sandy Hook parents. And once again for acting as the rightwing/MAGA minions frontman. Bannon loved him. AJ was media mouthpiece for Rand Paul, MTG, Tucker Carlson, J.D. Vance and others.
He made his blood-sucking/anti-Democracy money promoting the following:
Claimed the federal government has turned “weather weapons” on its citizens.
• Claimed the government has used chemicals to turn people gay — and that “the majority of frogs in most areas of the United States are now gay” because of the experiments.
• Said people would “let Robert Mueller rape kids in front of people, which he did,” before walking back the assertion.
• Promoted the “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory that Hillary Clinton and top aides were running a satanic sex-trafficking ring out of a D.C. pizza restaurant, then backtracked and apologized.
• Suggested the following were inside jobs and/or false flag operations: 9/11, the Boston Marathon bombing, Charlottesville, the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), the Brussels terrorist attack and the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.
• Falsely connected the Chobani yogurt company and its employment of refugees to child sexual assault and a rise in tuberculosis. (Jones later settled a defamation suit brought by Chobani.)
• Was sued after Infowars falsely identified the shooter in the Parkland massacre.
