Last year, the Orlando Sentinel reviewed the websites of the state’s voucher schools and discovered that scores of them publicly admitted that they do not admit the children of gay families and do not hire gay staff. The legislature then refused to require that voucher schools stop discriminating against gays; mustn’t trample on their freedom to be bigots.
Some voucher schools removed the language from their websites, but continue to fire gay teachers.

The voucher schools, apples of the eyes of Betsy DeVos and Jeb Bush, skim $1 billion a year of public funds that should have gone to public schools or used for public purposes, where discrimination is prohibited.

DeVos recently stated that she will allow religious groups to apply for charter school grants. She will do anything she can to transfer money out of public schools and into private pockets. The federal government should not allow public money to go to schools that openly discriminate or promote a particular religious group. My opinion- her first priority is keeping the GOP in power. Money for religious schools is a means to that end.

Of course it is. The Repugnicans know that demographics are against them. Funding fundy schools is one way to combat that. Voter suppression is another.

A program on WBOI (NPR in Northeastern Indiana), 10-26-2020, explains DeVos’ ultimate motivation. The program’s title, “For Trump, Conservative….”. Trump’s election in 2016 rode on the named demographic segment’s vote (electoral college votes). And, currently $9.5 mil. is being spent to get their swing voters in the battleground states to cast GOP ballots.
Chris McDaniel running for office in Ky. must have taken flack for his ads stating he’s a political patron to a specific religion’s schools. His most recent ad doesn’t mention the tax dollars he wants for the schools but, instead some diversion about anti-doxxing legislation to aid a specific school of the sect.

In 2018, a similar article was published about a teacher at a different religious school in Florida. That religion has more than 2,000,000 people in the state according to the church’s website.
The church mentioned in the article has 64,000 members in the state.

Two-thirds of Adventists plan to vote for Biden. It is twice the number planning to vote for Trump. The number planning to vote for Biden is 15% higher than the number who voted for Hillary.

Indeed. But despite the many, many actions that this maladministration has taken against LGBTQX persons, Stepford Wife Melania just released a video praising her husband’s record on gay rights. So bizarre.

On November 4, the Supreme Court, with CON-ey Barrett and Cavemanaugh on it, will hear arguments in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia and decide whether governments can be forced to use contractors who have been shown to discriminate against LGBTQX persons. For example, can the city of Philadelphia, having discovered that a contractor is discriminating against gay couples seeking to adopt, terminate its contract for that reason? The troglodytes on the Court will argue that this case is a matter of religious freedom. To hell with the freedoms of those being discriminated against. Aie yie yie.
Joe: The Repugnicans declared war when they pushed through this nominee on the eve of an election. Time to expand the Court.

Dilute the stranglehold religious conservatives have on the court because they don’t represent the majority of Americans who believe in women’s equality and economic opportunity for the 99%. The American religious hierarchy plots to expunge American pluralism and democracy.

Good term, “strategic game piece”. The notion that billionaires are using the conservative religious fails to account for the partnership that exists between them e.g. the Koch network and the religion that is protected at this blog and by media.
If Trump wins, congratulatory notes should be sent to the protected religion’s churches (Trump is up 8% in that electorate and, the protected religion dominates in the electoral college-rich states).
Congratulatory notes should have been sent to the protected religion’s church for the 6 SCOTUS judges…wait, the church gave awards to Leonard Leo and to William Barr. Mum’s the word.
