SOS Arizona won their battle to defeat Prop 305, a measure to supply universal vouchers. Prop 305 was trounced by a 2-1 margin.
Vouchers have been on state ballots 20 times. They have never won.
Notch another victory for parents, teachers, and civic-minded voters.

AZ is lucky to be one of the dozen states that “allow legislatively-referred and direct initiative statutes, or legislatively-referred and direct initiated constitutional amendments or referendums.”

That is how voters can counter ‘representatives’ who serve their campaign-funders instead of their constituency.

Good job, AZ, & all of you who worked hard to defeat this Prop.

I am disappointed with this result. I believed that the people of Arizona would come out in support of quality education.
The late Sen. John McCain, was a strong proponent of school choice. He especially pushed for increasing educational choices for Native American children. The schools run by the BIE have serious problems, nearly half of BIE students will not graduate high school.

Vouchers are NOT quality education.
That’s why they lose every referendum.
They funnel money from public schools, weakening them, to religious and private schools.

Huh? Because the reservations are just packed with inexpensive high quality private schools?
AZ very fortunate to have some incredible grassroots education advocates to prevent this terrible program.
